I am a forged in fire briar man. I think that the slight aroma that warmed briar adds to the smoke is essential for me. I know some guys can smoke clays, and meerschaums are very traditional, but just not for me. Cobs, well, hopefully by now, people know my opinions on those, ha ha. But, for me... I even get a little picky about the types of briar. None of that underaged or off cut briar for me. I have a few grabows I bought to try out early on, but they just have something off in the aroma that bothers me... princess and the pea... maybe. puffy

Briar is just durable, nice looking, and accentuates the flavors, IMO. It's just what pipes are supposed to be, for me. Anyone else can smoke what pleases them,

And, yep, my wife would look at me cross-eyed if I tried to wear cut offs, ha ha.

Yours sounds like a highly expressive and quality wardrobe. I enjoy dressing well now and then, but the opportunities have become fewer. On the other hand, I'd guess my pipe stable is a notch or two more varied than yours. I have quite a few different shapes, and variations on shapes.

I like many traditional shapes, but straight billiards and most of their derivatives (Canadians, Lovats, etc,) are some of my least favorite shapes. I’ve seen some I like, but generally I find them aesthetically boring. Probably because of the 90 degree juncture of shank and bowl. I do like bent billiards though, so I guess I just like pipes where the lines flow a little more. I really like many of the Italian interpretations of the traditional shapes, too.

Cargo pants and cut offs are different things. I'm not even sure what a jhort is. But, I was just bustin' chops on Blobs. What does someone care what someone else wants to wear. If he likes his jhorts, more power to him.
But, if you're out in the woods, a pair of cargo pants just makes sense, especially if you're toting tobacco and pipe gear.

I don't own any non-traditional or freehand pipes. I think the most wacky I get is a Poker or a Bulldog. Mostly Billiards, Lovats, and Apples for me.

Regarding dress, I dress like a Madison Avenue ad executive from the 1950s when I go to church or the Lodge, I dress like Norm Abram when I'm working on the house or relaxing, and I dress like GI Joe when I go to work.

He has a "time out"
I am unsure of the details, but there are several closed threads that discuss it. Let's not get this one closed down. I think that bring up his name, automatically alerts the officials. puffy

No problem, @Magpiety
So, you a traditionalist, like our man, Harris here, or do you like them new fangled pipes? puffy

Appreciate the lead-in back to the topic at hand! For some reason I spend more money on expensive whiskey and collecting firearms than on fine clothes, but I certainly appreciate others that have good style. I tend to get my dress-up fix at work, but I dress down for doing the evening chores on my little farm.

For pipes--It's usually function over form, but I've been pulled under by a particularly pretty pipe now and again.

I think that an eye for style is a virtue, but I'm a little bit too much of a hillbilly for that to be in my wheelhouse.
