Reading even just the couple latest pages of this thread...I realize I /really/ need to expand my horizons and quit playing Fortnite all the time. That game stresses me out, yet I play daily - I blame my boys for getting me into it lol

I need a pipe friendly game ...recently was rec'd Mass Effect and that seems to fit the bill so far.
You could probably go through a tin or two in the time it'd take to finish a game of Stellaris (if you want sci-fi) or Crusader Kings (if you want feudal alternate history), assuming constant pipeage.

Mass Effect is good, so is Dragon Age, but both series had a curse laid on them by a wandering gypsy: Each game after the first one was worse than the one before.

@Pooh-Bah - thank you for the suggestions, I like the sound of both of those games ...that's too bad to hear about Mass Effect, I only have an hour or two in so far - glad the first one is worthwhile at least. Cheers!

The good news is that none of the original trilogy are truly bad - First Mass Effect is amazing, the second one is solid, the third one is alright.
I haven't touched Andromeda.

Dragon Age peaks at Origins, declines rather sharply with 2 (plot is still good, but they only made like, six dungeon designs that they reuse constantly), and I made it maybe 20 hours into Inquisition before realizing that even trying to be a completionist was a fool's errand - I had only just touched the first major plot beat (narrative equivalent: when you're made a Spectre in ME 1) and threw my hands up in disgust.
I haven't touched Veilguard, and don't plan to.
