I wound up using three blends when spraying on some PG solution: Stokkebye Proper English, C&D Latakia (just the straight latakia found in bulk), and some Cascadia Campsite (owing to the fact i wanted a tad bit of diversity, and I didn't want to potentially screw up my more favored virginias).
There is an odd taste added by the PG, one that I could easy accept another to say as tasting chemically. In larger quantities it has that spicy mint taste, but in finer amounts it becomes less specific and becomes simply abnormal and odd-- something less than pleasant but not down right awful. The only words I would use here, that come to mind, would be brusque or curt: something that is there, a bit off putting, but never gets in the way. I was quite liberal when I sprayed each blend, so what I taste might not be what causes that chemical taste in tobaccos. I don't know how much of the stuff would be needed to impart that unpleasant taste, or how much producers use, so who knows.
Most tobaccos that I have smoked have never imparted a similar taste to what I have just experienced, besides a single exception. I do have my bag of Blue Note (that I found again today) that just a moment ago's light up went from "that's a wierd taste" to me going "what the **** is that?" in a matter of seconds. If Blue Note had PG on it, I would say mine may have been doused in it.
This would be easy if the tins had ingredients listed on them, but without it's still just speculation. So, in my own two cents, ditch anything that doesn't favor your palate asap, and leave it up to the next guy to try it and find out that he doesn't like it. That's enough science for me today. I need to go throw some Blue Note in the trash.
