Statistics can be a little misleading. I have been thinking about that post I made...

Would'nt the statistic still be true if 100% of the people in that group who were hospitalized were over the age of 50??

News can be a bitch to sort through anymore.

I agree. It’s almost impossible to find any kind of reporting that isn’t pointing fingers, or going full-blown worst case scenario. Compounding that, is the fact that the virus is still so new, and hospitals are so chaotic now that it’s impossible to know what the real numbers are. And, statistics and percentages are easily manipulated. All I know is that I’m going to keep a stock of cold medicine handy, hide inside as much as possible, and hope for the best if I do get sick.

I'd rather error on the side of caution and feel embarrassed if it is not as bad as we fear. I'm no youngster, but I'm far from ready to close up shop if I have anything to say about it. Virus and bacteria change, evolve, and adapt. Any of them might get worse, or might get milder to keep its vectors alive to spread them more effectively and to live longer in their hosts. For those infected and vulnerable, it is reported as swift and terrible, and worse if medical diagnosis and treatment don't arrive in time.

I just read this today. Diarrhea and gastrointestinal upset are fairly common, especially among more severe cases. It can be an early symptom.

Either way, everyone in this thread is standing too close to eachother.

'Cuse me. It's all related to my acid reflux, panic not. ?

Guess that finally explains all the numi paper insanity.

I have not had it. There's a chance I get it though (we all have a slight chance), just based on being inside a very crowded restaurant/bar the past month or so. A pocket of the first cases in Ohio was reported one county over, and it has spread into the county I reside in. I'm just smoking my pipes more, running the air purifier with the ozone up a little, and snuffing White Elephant. For some odd reason, this combination makes me feel better protected. Maybe it was the article about how they grow antibodies for vaccines in tobacco plants, and that ozone has shown promise as a line of defense?

Informed my brother had symptoms last week and has since recovered; Flu test was administered as doctor recommended and Flu Neg; Symptoms were slight fever, pain in limbs and chest/lungs, extreme fatigue and inability to walk as a result of pain. Supposes it was Corona but glad to be over it and in good form - between you and me also reported diarrhea at tail end of it.

didi', I believe the Corona viruses include those for the common cold, those for the various flus, and MERS, SARS, and this Covid-19. MERS and SARs were deadly, but as I recall, did not spread as readily. I hope this is a virus that imparts immunity, so that people who had it, most of whom survive, don't get it again, and don't pass it along. It's probably wishful thinking, but I hope the virus evolves to milder strains that don't kill, which would be in the self interest of the bug, to live in its host and spread to other hosts who survive. Symbiosis is good, even from a viral point of view. I think current genetics show changes in the Covid-19 genetics, for good or ill.

Not entirely correct. Yes, on MERS, SARS, and Wuhan, and some for the common cold. But other influenza virii, such as the H1N1 are retroviruses.

I think the tobacco mosaic virus is the one we should be panicking about! ??

Odds of catching it right this second are very low, 30,000 confirmes cases in the U.S out of 330 million people is only 1 in 10,000. However its still growing exponentially, it wouldn't surprise me if half the country gets it sooner or later. And of course for every confirmed case theres probably 20-50 more unconfirmed that have it.

Just a matter of time for me. My job in the hospital lab makes me the point man with exposure. I’m just glad I’m OCD when it comes to washing my hands, changing gloves, PPE and using a vent hood.

Yet the odds tell me I’ll probably get it. On the flip side, I’ve got job security right now. My wife has been furloughed from work since last Thursday.

My wife and I have been in FL since the first week of January. I got very sick around the 4th week of Jan. Fever, severe fatigue and one of the worst coughs I've ever experienced, Went to local Medcheck, they tested and said it was Influenza B. Lasted about 12 days. About half way through, my wife started getting sick, she ended up with pneumonia. My Daughter and Granddaughter visited the third week of Jan. After returning home, they had mild to medium respiratory infections.

Makes me wonder if what we had was in fact this virus. I think this thing has been in the USA since Nov or Dec 2019 and people simply didn't know what it was yet. I wondered at the time, I had the flu shot in the fall. Not that you still can't get the flu. I was as sick as I've been in a long, long time. I basically slept and laid on the couch for 7 or 8 days of the illness.

It means only: at this particular moment patient has no symptoms, but it could be prodromal period. Hopefully will keep our patients and staff safe. Will seepuffy. Keep smoking!

A member of our congregation and an old friend (30 years+) passed away from C-19 just yesterday. He caught the virus traveling. We are gutted. He was a fine man. The tragedy is compounded by the fact that we can't pay our respects properly. Please take this seriously friends.
No words to describe this pain, loosing our kin...
