Happy Canada Day! ???? Today I'm celebrating and smoking my new Ser Jacopo pipe and it smokes a-m-a-z-i-n-g!! It also has a real diamond on the stem! I love it❤️ please let me know if you have any tips and suggestions for cleaning and caring for it, I won't smoke it often, only on special occasions like today -thanks!

Nice pipe, I’d smoke it more also. As far as cleaning nothing more than the usual. Bit of alcohol on a pipe cleaner and run it through the stem. Wipe out the bowl, use a bit of stem oil on the stem and avoid getting it on the diamond. Good luck!

That’s an amazing chunk of wood…

As for cleaning and maintaining it, the usual regimen applies. If it were me, I’d smoke several bowls through it initially just to get it semi broken in. But no matter, I’ve got pipes that were unsmoked, smoked several bowls through, and set aside for months, or even years. No harm, no foul.

Congratulations!

Nice looking chunk of briar. Personally I'd smoke it and maintain it like any briar in your usual rotation.

This could set a trend
Imagine the prices asked for Dunhills/White Dots and Castellos (sparkly aluminium dots) with inset diamonds !
Not to mention Four dot and Eight Dot Sasienis

@cosmic - this could be a very profitable side-line

;)

These Ser Jacopos seem a bit gimmicky to me. I get that pipe making is an artisan pursuit, but for me, Ser Jacopo pipes generally seem to lack the subtlety that the complative nature of pipe smoking seems to suggest itself to. Don't get me wrong, they are lovely artifacts, but they look as though they belong in a postmodern museum rather than in one's mouth. And I know that is the point of them, and the original pipe maker is probably a big fan of Magritte, and all that blarney. But for me, when it comes to pipes, less is more.

I think the member was asking for how to maintain the pipe and not a personal preference review, but I may be mistaken. We all have preferences that others will not appreciate.
