I know this story! I have lived it so many times (Ebay blues). If you were the one who purchased my one and only clover on shank a few years ago, I can find some comfort in that ;)
I bought a nice Kaywoodie from you, a few months ago, that had been re-stemmed. I thought it was the 'clover in shank' one, but my memory is not so great.

Not sure if this was a good ebay pick-up, but 9 beat-up pipes, including two Kaywoodies with the clover in the shank, and chopped off stingers, Savinelli Punto Oro with no stem and a Sasieni 'four dot' with no stem. Ehhhh...I was bored.

I think you got them for less than you think. ? boredom pays off.

The stinger in my Kaywoodie Drinkless that also serves to screw in the stem is quick to clean and no hindrance in smoking. I ordinarily pull stingers from pipes that come with them, but this one has worked out well. I have no complaints.
