Acrylic Stem Slippery.

I have number of Peterson pipes with acrylic stems, but never had one slipped out of my mouth before. Until today that is. Fine clenching on left side, but not secure on right. Other than smoking more and getting used to it, or somehow building up the button, any other solution?

I’ve had a stummel fall off while smoking .. it was an acrylic stem.

It seems like I've seen soft rubber bit guards. I think they're intended to protect the pipe from teeth marks, but maybe they could solve this problem too.

Yeah, it's either get rid of the pipe or get some soft bits. They are rather inexpensive.

Slippery smooth is what I prefer about acrylic.

My teeth are fairly sharp and with acrylic stems they eventually wear in slightly so that clenching is possible and secure. I am not a fan of vulcanite due to oxidation so acrylic is the way for me. Hope it works out for you,bro.

My pipe are all good clenchers, or I don't own it very long....my teeth are more reliable at holding on to stuff than my hands these days anyway. I use the rubber bits, aesthetically not great, comfortable as hell though.

Rubber softie bit. They're a buck or two a pop at your local pipe shop or online equivalent. I have them on all my pipes. Besides providing a more secure grip when I clench they also prevent my canine from punching a hole in the stem.
