living in Okla, you don't see to many folks smoking a pipe, its either a cigarette or cigar. I also smoke cigars and pipes. When I smoke a pipe, people tend to approach me and talk, ask questions.so to me smoking a pipe tends to get people to be more friendly come talk to you. But smoking a cigar, tends to get people to think you are arrogant and mean as hell. But that works on one certain type of women. Pipes bring the nice and elegant women. Cigars bring the type of girl who is seeking someone who has power and knows how to use it. I love my life. When I am relaxing and not thinking of work, I smoke a pipe. At work and while out doing investigations or after helping law enforcement, the cigar is the go to.

i find that pipes make you seem aloft and indifferent to the troubles of mere mortals... THAT is what melts the panties of young "ladies".

I think a pipe evokes a little bit of one's personality and the same holds true with the room note of his tobacco. It shows women a glimplse of a previously unknown facet of a man's personality. Also, the sense of smell is the one most strongly linked to memory and if that memory is a good one, you're in good shape! There is also something iconoclastic about smokng a pipe, rather than just firing up a cig. It shows you bothered to take the time to learn something and that you care about taste. :

I don't think a pipe makes you more grandfatherly or more of a man. Like the other day. I was hanging out in the city walking down the street, smoking my pipe and changing playlists on my ipod when this huge fat biker dude stepped off the curb and I bumped into him. I apologized but he shoved me so I apologized again and he shoved me again so I kicked him in the nuts. While he was doubled over I said manly things to him and then ran around the corner. I was mad he shoved me so after he went into the bar I walked back over to his bike and peed all over it like a man (thank goodness for Double Big Gulps). He came out as I zipped up and yelled "What #@$* are you doing?" I ran down the street screaming like a school girl with my pipe. I looked sophisticated because of the pipe but the soiling of myself didn't make me feel manly, even with the pipe in my hand.
A lady passed me on the street, and said to me that she just adored the fragrance of a pipe smoke, and that so few gentlemen smoked pipes anymore. How rare is it to find something that pleases the ladies as well as the user? Heck, Santa smokes a pipe, and who doesn't like Santa? ::

I'd have to say a pipe makes me feel more grandfatherly. I've smoked cigars for years now and the only thing that kept me from trying a pipe was the age thing. I've always thought of pipe smokers as being OLD GUYS. I finally said to hell with it. If it feels good....DO IT! AS far as Test. goes: Smoking a pipe doesn't raise my levels at all. I'd agree with Kevin. It does give a guy the appearance of intellect.

Have you ever noticed in movies and TV whenever a young guy finally gets his groove on, it frequently shows him descending the stairs with a pipe and smoking jacket? Lewis did this in Revenge of the Nerds and Bud Bundy did this in Married With Children.
Couldn't find a pic, but it is noteworthy that if you type Bud Bundy Smoking Pipe into Google Images a pic of Kevin is in the results. :P

I certainly don't smoke a pipe or do anything else in an attempt to seem manly, grandfatherly or anything else for that matter to anyone. I just do what I do how I do it because it pleases me and seems like the right way to conduct my life. People will draw perception based conclusions about my actions and I can't help that. That just seems, unfortunately, to be human nature.
Interesting comments from all. Cindi came the closest. I started this thread with the question of whether smoking a pipe sparks your "T" levels and not one response answered the question. I think "feel grandfatherly" threw all you guys off base. When I smoke my pipe I am usually transformed into a very mellow and relaxed state. Sometimes, however, I become much more focused, aroused, motivated, and mentally awake and active. If I were a writer, I bet I'd be able to complete several chapters of a book in one sitting. This motivated state has occurred more than once or twice and I have become consious of the act of pipe smoking as a testosterone stimulant. I'll bet all of our grandfathers got a sparkle in their eye for grandma with a great smoke in their favorite pipe. Maybe that was why when we slept over at grandpa's house he put us in bed early with a big kiss and a broad smile. Then he and grandma attended to evening business.
