Just popped positive for COVID this morning at the quick-care clinic. Yay ‘Rona! ?
My senses of taste and smell are flat, but not completely gone. Awful headache, and body aches/chills/fever. Thankfully no respiratory symptoms. Not sure if I had it in March or not, but if so, this is round 2 for me. The joys of being a school teacher. The worst part honestly is that I’ll be quarantining through Christmas. ?
I don’t want to complain too much, there are folks that have died from this shit, and my symptoms are pretty mild compared to some other cases.
Just kind of stinks that the night I get off work for Christmas break is when I start feeling bad. No worries though. We’ll get through it. I’m trying to stay isolated in my bedroom for the time being.
if it makes you feel better years ago I was looking forward to my 2 weeks off. Then got the worst flu on day two of the break and was still sick on the first day back. I had not had a week off in years at that point. There is next Christmas.

I hope they are still paying her. We have students in class but we also have virtual students, too. We’ve had some teachers that have health issues teach from home. I’m not sure if they tried to schedule kids so that those teachers have only virtual students or what.
Unfortunately, they are not. They did let her use all her sick time, which amounted to 9 weeks of paid leave, but now it's unpaid. She requested an ADA accommodation to allow her to teach from home with a proctor in the classroom, but they wouldn't even entertain the idea. Here in Arizona it's tough sledding for teachers. Up until a couple of years age there hadn't been a wage increase since before the 2008 Great Recession! A number of teachers have quit during Covid rather than be forced back into the classroom.

We'll be ok though. We planned our move here, and our home purchase, so we could do ok with part-time income, since we moved principally for me to do a doctorate program. We aren't rich, solidly middle class, but we're better off than a lot of people during this pandemic, and having a pretty small mortgage payment really helps.
