Just popped positive for COVID this morning at the quick-care clinic. Yay ‘Rona! ?
My senses of taste and smell are flat, but not completely gone. Awful headache, and body aches/chills/fever. Thankfully no respiratory symptoms. Not sure if I had it in March or not, but if so, this is round 2 for me. The joys of being a school teacher. The worst part honestly is that I’ll be quarantining through Christmas. ?
I don’t want to complain too much, there are folks that have died from this shit, and my symptoms are pretty mild compared to some other cases.
Just kind of stinks that the night I get off work for Christmas break is when I start feeling bad. No worries though. We’ll get through it. I’m trying to stay isolated in my bedroom for the time being.
Well that sucks! I hope it goes quickly and uneventful for you.

Unfortunately, they are not. They did let her use all her sick time, which amounted to 9 weeks of paid leave, but now it's unpaid. She requested an ADA accommodation to allow her to teach from home with a proctor in the classroom, but they wouldn't even entertain the idea. Here in Arizona it's tough sledding for teachers. Up until a couple of years age there hadn't been a wage increase since before the 2008 Great Recession! A number of teachers have quit during Covid rather than be forced back into the classroom.

We'll be ok though. We planned our move here, and our home purchase, so we could do ok with part-time income, since we moved principally for me to do a doctorate program. We aren't rich, solidly middle class, but we're better off than a lot of people during this pandemic, and having a pretty small mortgage payment really helps.
That sucks. Some districts around here (not mine though) have teachers that are designated virtual teachers for the online students, leaving the rest of the teachers to do in-classroom instruction only. A virtual-only job would be perfect for someone like her. It’s a shame they don’t do that.

Just chiming in to say get well soon.

I had covid in early November with mild symptoms, and in all honesty I was happy for the ten day break from work. I was able to work from home, so I didn't get too far behind on my tasks, and it was nice to have a break from the office, meeting w/ clients, etc. Working from home was just a more relaxed pace.

How ya holding up? Hopefully the worst symptom is boredom. Hopefully you're a Doctor Who fan and started with William Hartnell on the watch-through.

I’ve had three teachers who were personal friends of mine die in the last month, two were younger than me. I just coach the Debate Team, so I can do that virtually, sort of.

My hat is off to you teachers. Our area has been forcing students to move from virtual to traditional at each upswing in cases. It’s been ridiculous. I hope some of these Boards of Education get replaced soon. Inhuman scum.

I wish you a speedy and full recovery.

I’m bored as hell brother, but I’m otherwise ok. Not running fever as often anymore, and still no respiratory symptoms. I figure I’ll be good in another day or two. My quarantine doesn’t end until the 30th though. I just feel cooped up more than anything.

I used to watch Dr Who when I was a kid. We didn’t have cable or anything like that, just “bunny ears” on the tv, and Dr Who came on PBS. It was “scarf Dr Who.” I guess that was the fourth Dr? I tried to watch the revived series, one of the seasons with David Tennant. Great actor, but I just couldn’t get into it. Tried a few episodes from other seasons, too, but still couldn’t get back into it. Most of the girls on the show were always easy to look at though. ?

Uh, yeah. Doctor Who has always specialized in cute Brit girls. Agree the new series is utter shite. All that fast talking dialogue, CGI leaving nothing to the imagination and all stories tidied up in one episode.
