Not enough money for me. I prefer a pipe that is expensive, well made, and at least $500. Oh, and well blasted.[
oopf... straight for the jugular.
Not true. A carved pipe is done with gouging and cutting. Sandblasting removes the softer wood and exposes the harder ring grain. But a sandblasted pipe is just like a carved pipe except its carved in a box that shoots high velocity sand.
For the same reason people like straight grains.I don't understand peoples fascination with sandblasts. I wonder why they are dunhills cheapest line? And they created it, Cook is the only guy I would buy a sandblast from if we are talking over $200 which i wouldnt pay that much for a blast anyhow. But a sandblasted pipe is just like a carved pipe except its carved in a box that shoots high velocity sand. And depending on the person doing the sanding if they have patience and a little skill they can create rings where there is none. A light blast would be a more real representation of the growth rings other then that it's just carving with sand
Exactly that. Not true. A carved pipe is done with gouging and cutting. Sandblasting removes the softer wood and exposes the harder ring grain.
Nice dog Honkytonk.Exactly that.
Thanks Clynch.Nice dog Honkytonk.
It's a real life shot. Beats a planned photo any day. And that is one fine doggie. Thanks Clynch.
He's a little bigger than he is in the picture. In fact he tried climbing up there yesterday, but I wasn't quick enough with the camera.
It would've made a good comparison.
Thanks Embers, he sure is. ?It's a real life shot. Beats a planned photo any day. And that is one fine doggie.
I own many Petes significantly less than $300… Naturals, Flame Grain Spigots, House pipes. Bought them new, too.I buy blasted or rusticated pipes here and there but for me the smooth pipe is the way to go..I own 4 Petes over 300$ two naturals one flame grain spigot and terracota house pipe..I would not buy blast from Peterson for this money...There is very few blasts that I like and they are hard to find from Peterson...
Strange that they would stain the briar so dark as to hide the grain. A cheaper alternate to blasting a lesser straight grain, perhaps.I own many Petes significantly less than $300… Naturals, Flame Grain Spigots, House pipes. Bought them new, too.
Recent Flame Grain Petes I’ve seen barely fit in that category. But they’re stained in a dark brown that makes it near impossible to see the grain anyway. Unless you’re standing next to a nuclear blast ?
My Flame grain spigot is an older European version(2014) XL02.amazing grain and pipe..It looks better than todays most naturals..Paid 315 for it back then...I own many Petes significantly less than $300… Naturals, Flame Grain Spigots, House pipes. Bought them new, too.

Not enough of nice briar I think...Strange that they would stain the briar so dark as to hide the grain. A cheaper alternate to blasting a lesser straight grain, perhaps.
Yup, I guess so.Not enough of nice briar I think...
