Negative PR will absolutely affect their bottom line. Also, why would a corporation not care about you choosing to spend your money with their competitors? Maybe I'm misunderstanding what you're saying as text lacks nuance.
Well, we (this forum) is like 1% of US pipesmokers. And, STG is a global tobacco company. With 99.9% of the world never hearing about any of this. Eliminating the competition forces the consumers into buying their product.

Plus, a corporation is a system of people all with specialized responsibilities. Take Ford for example. They release cars with dangerous flaws all the time. Who’s job is it to care about who gets hurt, who gets pissed off? They merely issue recalls when the courts press them to.

Sure, sure, if there was enough worldwide outrage to affect the numbers, sure… PR would be notified, and the pencil necks would issue an order to someone in marketing to create a statement to the public that obscures the issues enough to get product moving again.
Where as an LLC or private business has an owner and GM that has feelings and “can” feel… Because they can have an obligation to their customers… Like Sykes of Laudsis and whoever owns GH. Sykes can come on here and talk to us, even though we are a minority of his customer base, and GH can send their wraith.

Edit: my use of percentages is for affect, not based on actual numbers, but… they aren’t far from the true statistics. puffy

I was hoping that @woodsroad and @condorlover1 would step up their game a bit and outbid STG…………..🤨
No way. There is a popular misconception that if you invent a better mouse trap the world will beat a path to your door. They won't. They will attempt to burn your house down. @woodsroad and yours truly carefully planned the resurrection of several iconic British blends. For all our careful planning we were rewarded by being subjected to abuse, the ridicule of a multitude of armchair experts and all manner of grifters, charlatans and head cases. On the other hand we had incredible help from such wonderful people like @JimInks, Russ, Jesse and countless others who kindly donated samples of original blends for cloning. I doubt it could be done today. That being said it is the most thankless endeavor you will ever under take and I for one would rather get circumcised by a mohel with a blunt Target carving knife then ever undertake such a thankless task again.

Sadly, everything you wrote is true.

I would think one of the machines for making spun cut tobacco is getting destroyed. Not many of those out there. I'm pretty sure most companies get another company to do spun cut tobacco on contract as there aren't many machines. And I'm pretty sure Macbaren would have one as they have a few spun cuts and roll cakes

I'm very curious to see how STG does with the small roll cakes Mac Baren makes at their Svendborg factory once STG moves it to Assens.

For whatever it's worth, I really enjoyed the War Horse blends you guys came up with and will be very sad when they're gone. The originals were well before my time so I never got to try them, but your modern recreations are some of the most unique and delightfully ass kicking blends on the market today. Ya done good! 👍

I am a facts person and don’t speculate. But I did watch the video 😀

For the brief period I have been smoking a pipe, Chicken Little’s were correct about McClelland. But they were also utterly wrong about the FDA deeming regulations.

I will watch from the sidelines and keep scores, while smoking C&D, STG, K, GH,SH,Germain’s, Macbaren & Sutliff and maybe others 😀

I am sad at the double standards though. Macneils were applauded for closing McClelland but STG is on the firing line for alleged plans of shutting down blends which they own and not making money 😀
I'm also curious what would have happened with McB (and, therefore, Sutliff) if STG hadn't purchased them. Were they on the verge of collapse? Would McBaren/Sutliff have otherwise just closed up shop and disappeared? In this case, STG may be saving the core McB stuff while cutting their own worse sellers to accommodate this. As for Dunhill blends, I fully expect the best sellers--EMP, MM, Nightcap, maybe Elizabethan, etc--to stick around while the bulk of the Peterson stuff disappears.

Maybe I’ll state the obvious, maybe someone should “Luigi Mangione” the CEO of STG in the back…. Yes, yes that is dark sarcasm obviously, obviously someone who messes with pipe tobacco deserves an even worse fate, hahaha
I'm not saying this is you, but since you brought up an accused murderer...

Assassination is either on the table or it's not. There is a ridiculous movement here to somehow paint that entitled rich kid as some sort of modern Robin Hood. He isn't. Assassination should NOT be on the table in a first world country, ever, let alone a republic.

I agree with Forbes the push some are making to make murder acceptable as a political instrument is a clear sign of the moral rot in America.

I would like to know how much Sutliff's equipment would cost at scrap value. Anyone care to guess?
I offer this: When Georgia Pacific bought the paper mill in Camas, WA, they went in there with a genius group of young corporate types to maximize profits.

The mill opened in the second half of the 19th century and some of their machinery was old. So corporate wunderkinds decide to clip several paper machines that were deemed too old.

Fast forward a year, the mill is hemorrhaging money. They need to fire up the old tissue deptbto get some profits back. Uh oh. Fucking morons had the machines cut in half when they pulled them so no one could use them... the only profitable machines in the whole mill.

The mill just petered out after that.

I say that to say this, it will be a miracle if any of that machinery slides out of there in recoverable condition. But we shall pray.

Exactly. Still in the discovery phase myself, I get to pick and choose which blends to try (or not), and possibly fall in love with.

Back when I was more into Cigars, after I made a few cigar purchases from what I thought was several different online vendors I happen to notice my credit card statement. MOST of these sales were listed as 'CIGARS ETC'. Upon further review... STG. This is a LOT bigger than PT. It seems apparent to me that this is quickly becoming 'STG vs EVERYBODY ELSE'.

First choice is local providers. I'm not talking about boycotting anything, but competition is a good thing for the consumer. I get to pick which blends to sample and MAYBE fall in love with . Therefore, as a new PT smoker, I will pick the local choices and support them where I can. (You get to decide what local means to you.)

Why limit my choices? Ah, I don't know, because the longer the others stay afloat, the longer I have those choices available to me. I wish to assist in keeping the choices that remain.

Point is, I DO have choices and I will support them.
STG is primarily a manufacturer and distributor of cigars. Pipe tobacco is secondary to them.

Yes your signature clearly understands my point about sarcasm👌. I’m not going to get into the political discussion because as you noted it wasn’t my intention, my post was just a joke…. As for moral rot, there’s lots to go around, lots of places on this wonderful planet,,,🌎

I absolutely meant you no ill will, elvish. I am just flabbergasted at the people cheering that event on.
