Yes, be careful when you go on that trip with your mates that she gave you “permission” to do.

I came back from one such trip to find she had totally rearranged my bookcases of wine books, cook books, cigar books and wine and spirit magazines and journals so I now have to conduct a search-and-find mission whenever I want to find the relevant tome

And another time when I came back to find she had “trimmed” my carefully tended hedge of bamboo palms. Palms DO NOT grow if they are beheaded

Well, that spire is the only part of the planned Washington Monument that got built at all. I forget whether construction was halted as a result of lack of funding, or lack of interest.

Yep. Originally there was going to be a pair of spheres, one on either side of the base of the spire. At the last minute they realized it was a bad idea.
