That's a really cool find. Whatever you do with it, document it and keep us posted. I like the idea of a video of the tin opening.

You'll have to compare it to the Sutliff Private Stock R-Blend the notes on it say "Perfect for fans of Revelation." If it's close I'll have to get a tin, since one doesn't usually come across a tin of 85 year old baccy.

Well, am smoking a bowl of this stuff right this moment.
In a Keyser Hygenic.
A decent smoke. Looks fresh, smells sublime, smokes well.
85 years old.
It burned very mild and neutral at first, and as the bowl progressed it started kicking the topping(s) in a very mellow manner.
Burns to a nice ash.
There is supposed to be latakia in it, but it is barely noticeable at all. It sort of comes out with a light fruity taste, or maybe vanilla.
What you would call an all day smoke, for sure. Less dry and dusty than PA.
I got one, maybe two bowls left. Will save them for this weekend.
Pawpaw is the man for sure. Not sure what i did to deserve this honor, but I am glad I did it.

Cornell and Diehls Epiphany is supposed to be a copy of this blend, and Altadis makes the Sutliff Private Stock R Blend, which is also supposed to be a copy. Who smells a Revelation Throwdown coming!?

i smoke Epiphany all the time and hobie traded me some of his Revelations from the 70s/80s and neither come close

but i belive 85 years may have an effect on the taste

and speaking of C&D i hope to go up there in the coming weeks and share a pipe full w/ Craig
and my discrition of the tin note is a old hayloft with grandma baking cookies the taste is mild with an unknown spice that lingers on the tounge

Nice to hear how it worked out, Pawpaw.

I'm amazed that it was a pleasant smoke after that long, even if it was in an airtight seal.
It's a very nice antique and hey, if it's Einstein's favorite ... I think it would be great for a pipe collection display.
