Fantastic find! Maybe the tobacco blenders who do substitutes for this blend would be interested in a sample. I would even like to see a video of the opening :)

They don't make this anymore, right? The curiosity would just be too much - I'd jar it and then have a bowl. Smoke it in a pipe Einstein would use.

well the richmond show is a no go for me so when i get my Meer back from the shop i may be cracking this thing open.I talked to Craig over at C&D and he said it may be smokable right out of the tin and if i need to he recomended the bowl and towel method of rehydrating

An unopened tin from 1928? I say leave it. You need to ask yourself if it would really be worth smoking it, even if it's a good smoke. Crack open a tin of good new tobacco and leave that one in peace for posterity.

My take, it's pipe tobacco, it was meant to be smoked. Unless you're planning on specific provisions in your will, none of us are going to live forever after all, you have no idea what will happen to it later on. Could end up in the hands of a collector, could end up on a trash heap somewhere. I would find a quiet time and place to give it the respect it deserves, light it up and think about all that has come and gone in this world since that tin was first filled. To me, that would be a proper way to enjoy that tin.

Does this mean we will be meeting up then to light up a bowl of it?

To see something like that still sealed it is fascinating. Probably belonged to some 'ol boy whose wife griped at him for smoking too much so he stashed it somewhere and forgot about it. That's like a time capsule in and of itself man. I love old stuff, antiques, whatever you wanna call it. Whether you smoke it or not, its yours. Do what you want. Just be sure and tell us about it. Very intriging.

Hey Pawpaw that is one brilliant find!

As the others have said; do with what you will.
I love the photos. I hope you don't mind but I copied your photos and added them to my screen saver.

Awesome!
