I'll add, that not long ago my grandmother gifted me my late grandfather's pipes, a few accessories and an old humidor.
I smoke the un-smoked Medico pipe that was his. Why he never smoked it, I do not know. But I do in remembrance and in honor of him.
She also gave me his fancily carved meerschaum (in it's original box) and a very well smoked OomPaul briar of unknown origin. I don't smoke these two, because apparently the man was against cleaning his pipes - EVER. They are disgusting.
The nasty pipes reside in the humidor, displayed in my sitting room with the rest of my pipes and tobacco. It's almost like an urn, I suppose. But, I'll never throw them away, and I'll never sell them (not that anyone in their right mind would WANT them.)
But, that's me, not you. I tend to cling to sentimental items, whether useful or not. I hope that you find the solution that works best for you, whether it be selling the pipe, smoking it, putting it on display or just in a box to be handed down to the next generation.
