Castellarius, Love the avatar. Thanks for the kind thoughts and advise. At some point in life, this like virtually everything tangible must move on. I am not going all Egyptian mummy on this thing. Further, it is not like grandpa has just passed. This pipe has been in my possession for over 30 years. When grandpa did pass, I was the only family member interested in the pipe. I am still the only one interested. I have moved the pipe from one end of the country and back. This is not the only thing I am callously casting aside in my greed for measly cash. It is part of a life process. Since evilly leaving this forum 7 months ago to work in a remote part of the Yukon, I have only just returned. So sorry so many feel this is somehow reprehensible.
I have sold grandma's couch, and it was a beauty, and yet oddly I do not miss it. My pipes are all curved and coarse-textured, much like me. This pipe is rigidly smooth and straight -much like grandpa. He was a Scot after all.
For me this has been a process. I am not looking to sell this thing before the old boy is in the ground. Nor am I looking to sell it today. As I was not looking to sell it 7 months ago. I am merely beginning the process.
If that makes me a "shill" then so be it.
This really has become a weird forum. Like Atticus Finch perhaps you should walk a mile in someone else's shoes before criticizing.
