I just received my Som Besths miracle package, and because he included his username in the lovely card I am going to give him direct credit: Thank you so incredibly much, @CoffeeAndBourbon!!! I am completely stunned by your thoughtfulness and generosity! For starters, by the time I realized I really wanted to try Eight State Burley and Cringle Flake, both were completely sold out. I thought missed the bus. And here they both are! And then there is Bijou, Six Pence, Bold Kentucky, and Margate -- all specific blends I've been wanting to try! And then there is Gates of Light which I didn't even know existed (and sounds really interesting), and to round it all out a tin of Quiet Nights, one of my favorite English's. From the bottom of my pipe, thank you!

A very Merry Som Besths to everyone! I wish all of you a happy and peaceful holiday.

Richard

I haven't seen anything yet but I'll check the old mailbox on Saturday. I actually get more pleasure in sending the stuff out to my match than receiving things. Since I have such one dimensional tastes in tobacco I can guess what I will get with a certain degree of certainty.

Well I've been trying to send Som Besths cheer but the bloody USPS is still not accepting packages to Canada. UPS and Fed Ex will not allow me to simply send a gift to Canada they are requiring me to setup as an exporter and my poor recipient will have to pay tariffs as an importer on top of the $42 shipping charge on my end (this is to get it there December 30 to get there by Christmas was $162). I'm at a loss, any Som Besths help or ideas appreciated.

Time to start driving! You should be able to make it in time!

Hmmm other than banning Canadians next year...

Give me a day or two to figure this conundrum out.

The usps was easy last year. No problems on my end and as far as I know my recipient didn't pay any tariffs.
The Canada Post strike has really thrown a wrench into things this year. While they have been mandated back, there is still a huge backlog of mail for them to sort through. I'm not surprised packages to Canada are still being throttled.

Santa Mike has an idea though, but it's just in it's larval stage now. Let me feed it and see what it grows into. There's always room for another Som Besths miracle in this thread.
