    What are You Reading Now?

DFW was an excellent author. I actually find his posthumously published novel "The Pale King" to be both his best work for a beginner and also possibly his best overall. It's such a shame that he never managed to finish it.

What an amazing looking pipe...that stem, the heel, the shape of the bowl. Wonderful stuff!

Tobacco type vs pipe type, a beginner question

As everyone else has said, there's no consensus. Having said that, there are certain concepts that you will see repeated by many people online. One is that a taller, narrower bowl is often preferred to "concentrate" the flavours of Virginias. A wider, shallower bowl has been recommended for...

    Stain? Sand and stain?

Great point about the edge.i added a slight bevel on the interior using a round spoon. I'm hesitant to touch the outer edge as I'm worried about my ability to keep it even all around. Any tips?

    Stain? Sand and stain?

Thanks for that! At what point in the process you described would you apply stain? After micromesh and before waxing?

    Stain? Sand and stain?

Just got this estate Peterson 314.My first Peterson. It had some pretty bad rim charring but is decent other than that. As you can see, if sanded down the rim to remove the worst of the charring. My question is: do I now just need to apply some leather dye to the exposed briar on the rim? Or...

    Paint Can Style Tin Sealing

I recall a fellow on this board (who I believe works in the industry) told me that the paint can style tins are good for up to ten years. Personally, I can't help opening them since I don't consider them "sealed" to begin with. Something about the vacuum seal or ring pull on normal cans...

Very fitting! I've tried neither although Semois is something I'd really love to sample! I'm thinking the Zulu will be for burley. Other than that, I'm unsure. How do you tend to assign "genres" to your pipes (assuming that's something you do)?
