Musician and Pipe Smoker John Connor on Radio Show of June 25, 2024

I’ve done many interviews, but I’ll be bias and say being on Pipes Mag with Brian was my favorite one I did. I had so much fun. If Brian asked me back on in the future I’d do it in a heart beat.

    Clean Pipe, Happy Life

And nobod I think the soap and water comment was sarcastic. Never use soap and water on a pipe. I clean mine with a generic Everclear or some other spirit.

    Breath Method

I suppose you could use it to regulate cadence. I primarily use it when my pipe gurgles due to moisture at the bottom of the bowl. Sometimes I’ll use the method to regulate the ember from burning too hot or keep it from going out.

A clean pipe is a happy pipe. A happy pipe is a happy me.

    Breath Method

Indeed. I use the Breathe Method when I get some gurgling from moisture build up. I hardly ever run a pipe cleaner through the stem with that method it works that good.

    My Experience So Far

I’ve tried different packing methods and I found I prefer a very light pack, so I just use the gravity method.

New Dunhill Ruby Bark Getting Broken in and First Clean

Title edited for caps. Please read Rule 9. I spent the past couple weeks smoking my new Dunhill RubyBark to build up a cake from bare wood. It started getting that not so fresh feel. I’m doing my first tear down and cleaning it.

    Springtime Deep Cleaning

It’s that time again to do a deep clean. I’m using Brian Levine’s method: Everclear and bristle pipe cleaners to clean out the stem, mortise, and shank.

    Deep Cleaning Cob Pipes

You gave the best explanation I’ve ever heard of as to why we clean pipes, because of bacteria and the natural junk left behind.

    Deep Cleaning Cob Pipes

What does the sunshine portion do? Also, do you have them sit in indirect sun near a window?

    Deep Cleaning Cob Pipes

I’ve heard people cleaning the stem and shank on a briar pipe on a regular basis with a spirit (eg. Everclear). What’s the consensus on doing the same with a cob pipe?

    Dunhill Unicorn Pipe

I was looking at estate pipes on eBay and came across a Dunhill RubyBark pipe. Opening bid was $120 so I put in a bid of $123. Many folks were on the watch list so I had no expectations of winning this pipe. When time expired I was shocked to find out I won this pipe for $123. The original owner...
