HU Tobacco Coming to the States

    Since we've gotten onto spirits, Line aquavit is more expensive because it's shipped across the equator and back. Maybe the gentle rocking of the tobacco in the shipping containers does the same for HU, helping it mature? (That's a wry joke, if it wasn't obvious.}

    Another Floridian here! Welcome!

HU Tobacco Coming to the States

Same! Had to resort to a screwdriver to open my Indaba, and thought I was going to punch a hole in the tin. This is my first HU, and one bowl in I wouldn't try to describe it, but I completely enjoyed it and found it distinct from other blends, so I'm hopeful that we're not all really doomed...

HU Tobacco Coming to the States

Rattray's Exotic Passion comes in a big tin that's not sealed, and in the tin the tobacco is wrapped in an unsealed cellphone bag held shut with a sticker. Don't know why, but some companies do it. I was surprised, too.

HU Tobacco Coming to the States

Just ordered a couple of tins. I haven't tried any HU blend. I do wish they were available in 50g.

    HU Tobacco In The US?

I called Smokingpipes this afternoon to ask what happened to the listings that were up yesterday. I was told next Tuesday they'll be released.

    Jim's C&D Warped: Scarecrow 2024 Review.

I'm just finishing up a tin of 2022, was hoping this release would be as good. Thanks for the review!

    Favorite Holiday Blends?

Dang it, JS, your post has been bugging me all week. I definitely have seasonal preferences, and never thought about that. I grew up rural and agrarian in Alabama, so maple syrup wasn't a local thing, but sorghum was. It's pressed in the late summer or fall, so maybe it's just a sugar syrup...

Do You Associate Pipe Smoking with a Sense of Spirituality?

Re: contemplative- "Two things fill the mind with ... awe,...the starry sky above me and the moral law within me. Neither of them need I seek... as if shrouded in obscurity... I see them before me and connect them immediately with my existence. " -Immanuel Kant, pipe smoker

Do You Associate Pipe Smoking with a Sense of Spirituality?

Just me, or did nobody else hear anyone arguing about religion? Having a good conversation, I thought, about the inate transcendental potential of pipe smoking as a human activity. Terribly sorry if that's offensive, but I for one am still interested in what others might have to say about it...

    Favorite Holiday Blends?

Heads-up y'all- C&D's page says Golden Days of Yore is being released next week. I haven't tried it.

Do You Associate Pipe Smoking with a Sense of Spirituality?

I avoid the word "spiritual" because it has very specific meaning for some, and I've talked with some who use the word a lot who don't seem to have any ides what they mean by it. But yes, I get what you mean. And also, some traditions would say anything done with mindfulness is meditation.

    Favorite Holiday Blends?

I just dug out my fall blend jars this week. Red Hunt, Maple Shadows, Scarecrow, From Beyond, and Potlatch. Might open a tin of Capstan too.

    Your Own "Best" Tobacco

If I had to choose today, Miskatonic Mixture. It's complex enough I wouldn't get bored with it.

    Factory Pipes

My most expensive is a Cavicchi, which doesn't smoke any better than the basket pipe I got in a Tinder Box starter pack. The Cavicchi is prettier, but since smoking any pipe makes one more attractive, I'm thinking there's less payoff on the investment the more one spends.

    Overclocked Stem Self-correcting?

Thanks, I did look through those here and elsewhere, but got impatient to try it out, and then noticed it self-correcting. Still seems like I read about that somewhere.

Yep, back to one o'clock the next day.

    Overclocked Stem Self-correcting?

Hi folks, I'm perplexed. I picked up a NOS, late model LHS second ("London Royal") a couple of weeks ago. I only have a couple of pipes with screw tenons, when I bought my first pipe in the 80s those were pretty much going away. I thought this pipe (straight apple/pot) was flawed, with a...
