It is hard for me to believe, but we are a week away from September. Where has the year gone? We are now on the downhill slope toward the holidays. I personally love the holidays -- I think Fall is my favorite season. My wife is a big Halloween fan. For me it is probably Thanksgiving. All of this has gotten me thinking about holiday tobacco blends.

Other than the obvious Sleepy Hollow, what other blends do you associate with the holidays? I imagine blends with hints of marshmallow, cinnamon, clove, peppermint, gingerbread, nutmeg, pumpkin spice, etc... are out there, but what is actually worth smoking?

Fall is my favorite time of year for enjoying a pipe. I like being outside and the cooler temperatures and changing colors of all the plants and trees just add to the ambiance of the whole experience of life. Some fall themed tobaccos I typically enjoy are C&D Autumn Evening, all of the C&D Old Ones series, L.J. Peretti Thanksgiving Day, Warped Scarecrow, Sutliff Maple Shadows, and F&K Bat With A Hat.

I was brand new to pipe smoking last fall, so I'm just here to absorb some knowledge. Peterson University Flake and Watch City's Rhythm and Blues were my December smokes last year and I enjoy them both still. Looking forward to getting some new blends to celebrate the holidays this year. I'm not trying to rush what is left of summer, but fall and winter are my favorite seasons.

C&D Corn Cob Pipe and A Button Nose is another seasonal blend I like. I have a tin of their We Three Kings I plan on opening this year. Like many others here I also enjoy more Latakia blends such as C&D Byzantium, G.L. Pease Gaslight, P.S. English Oriental Supreme, and Boswell's Northwoods this time of year. Come October I might try to grab some Rougaroux from Watch City and give it a try 😁

Some of the Peterson Christmas blends were nice. My favourite was the 2015 edition and I've still got some jarred. Sadly, they don't produce the Christmas blends, anymore. They had some really lovely embossed tins, as well. Peterson stopped making them when the pandemic hit😔.

"The blend mixes the holiday flavors of cognac and winter berries to compliment the creamy black cavendish, Virginia and burley."

Gawith Seasonal Reserve is very nice🤤.

Gawith Hoggarth Seasonal is a mixture of bright, flue-cured and dark fired Cavendish Virginias, blended with naturally sweet sun-cured burley leaf resulting in a mild and fragrant tobacco blend. As you open the tin you are hit with a distinctive festive aroma of Cherry and Almond rounded off with notes of Vanilla for that added creaminess that even the most reluctant, anti-smoking mother in law will welcome you to spark up in front of the fire on the big day.

C&D Golden Days of Yore and We Three Kings. While not marketed as a holiday blend, Sillem’s Musketeer has a Christmas feel for me.

I don’t restrict Christmas Cheer to the holiday season, and I smoke it regularly if infrequently. I’m trying to make sure my modest stash of it lasts many years.
Heads-up y'all-
C&D's page says Golden Days of Yore is being released next week. I haven't tried it.

Curious why maple blends are associated with autumn. Maple syrup is made in early spring and that's when I smoke them.
Autumn, for me, is a season of burning leaves, smoking meats and firing up woodstoves. Latakia blends go well with these activities.
Summer holidays call for cob pipes and codger blends on the porch. Hay season calls for Virginia tobacco. Like calls for like.
