***What Are You Smoking, September, 2023?***

As the chilly mornings are coming back, I start to crave some light English Mixtures. Some Chelsea Morning (from 2010) in my Neerup pipe.

***What Are You Smoking, August 2022?***

Old Fredder's Broken Flake by HU Tobacco in an Eltang Basic for me this fine summer evening.

Smoking Half a Bowl and Finishing it Later

When I'm working in the mornings I usually first light a bowl at 07:00 and I'm smoking it on and off until 17:00. I found no ill effects, on the contrary. I mostly smoke Virginias. With Latakia I found the occasional acrid note, but nothing that will ruin a bowl.

    English blends aren't too bad!

I understand what you mean. In orthodox Greek mass, the Church is filled with this burning incense (it is actually Frankincense) smoke. For me Latakia is exactly like that, not exactly smoky (as Dark Fired), but mostly has this specific "aromatic" quality of smoke.

    English blends aren't too bad!

I totally agree about Consummate Gentleman. You need to try Chelsea Morning and/or Picadilly, too!

    English blends aren't too bad!

I'm the same way. I mostly smoke Virginia/Vapers, but oh boy when I crave an English nothing else can satisfly me. In the course of the years I found that I enjoy some lighter Englishes, like Chelsea Morning, preferably aged a little, that have a big Virginia base and in where latakia is used...

    RYO Tobacco in Sealed Tins?

@Eastmon As a former RYO smoker I had never any problems with the Drum sealed tins. I am sure that I smoked some tins after 2 or even 3 years without a problem. On the other hand, the pouches dry fairly quickly. So, if the tin is sealed you should have no problems.

    New Piper. Bitter, Ashy taste

Lots of good advice by the masters here. Follow them and you're in a good path. As a former ryo cigarette smoker myself, you're doing a good thing here. Just keep in mind that pipe smoking is a process, with a steep learning curve. If you keep at it, it will reward you in the most amazing ways...

2019 Director's Cut After 2 1/2 Years In The Jar

I had a similar experience with Director's Cut. In 2018-2019 I smoked the stuff almost exclusively, and then one day... it was just off. I recently found an opened tin in my cellar from the dreaded batches of fall of '19 (surprisingly in very good condition, having in mind that it was in the...

***What Are You Smoking, June 2022?***

Just kicked off my morning routine with Huber's Virginia Golden Flake (one of the few nice virginias we can get in bulk in Europe), a great blend that's something between OGS and Capstan Blue. Smoking it in a nice Greek made Canadian by Alexander Briar Pipes.

Greetings from the East Coast of Attica, Greece

"Potamos" is a village in Kerkyra (Corfu) in the Ionian Sea, that I have relatives (Paulfg lives in Kerkyra, so that's why I mentioned it). "Patmos" is a beautiful island in the Aegean Sea with significant religious importance, you are correct. It is famous as the location where Saint John...

Greetings from the East Coast of Attica, Greece

I've been a lurker in this great forum for many years. You guys -unknowingly- helped me become a better pipe smoker and as a consequence a better person, so it is time to reveal myself, and try to give, at least a fraction, back. I've been smoking the wonderful herb we call tobacco for 11 years...
