    Top 3 Favorite Aromatics

I don't normally smoke aromatics other than those produced by Gawith, so I'm probably not much help here, but my favorties are: GH Brown Flake Aromatic GH Coniston cut plug GH Dark Flake Aromatic

    Filter or no filter?

I prefer Medico filters for my cobs and other pipes that take a 6 mm filter. They are probably the least intrusive in regards to the draw and the flavor, but they definitely soak up the moisture and keep the smokestream and airway cleaner. They're also the cheapest.

Enjoying some GH Brown Flake Aro in the Medico sandblasted special offer egg. With Bushmill's and soda on ice.

***What Are You Smoking, October 2024?***

I'm enjoying my first-ever bowl of Voodoo Queen in my favorite wee Medico dublin. So far, so good. Not my normal jam, but I'm liking it quite a bit.

To Drink or not to Drink?

All of the above, whatever strikes my fancy when it's smoking time. If it's whiskey, though, I usually water it down a bit or have a glass of ice water alongside.

More Sillem's Mayor 1814 Flake in a stock Washington cob with the Rob Roy bowl.

I'm finishing off a Dark & Stormy made with Bacardi Gold and some delicious Trader Joe's ginger beer, with a bit of lime, of course.

    Alternatives to Golden Slice

Sillem's Mayor 1814 Flake is similar, but with an slightly earthier, deeper flavor. I really like it, and am a big fan of OGS as well.

***What Are You Smoking, September 2024?***

Sillem's Mayor 1814 flake in my wee Medico dublin, cubed. Really good.

    6mm Charcoal Filters.

I have used the Dr Perl Jr 6mm filters, they do a good job with very wet tobacco. They also tend to slow the draw substantially, and don't always fit some of my 6mm pipes (quite snug). I generally prefer paper filters like Medico.

What is Your Lighter of Choice?

Puffer. Refillable soft butane flame with tools. It's been perfect for me for years.

    Four More Cutties

    I like that dublin!

Why I Like The Savinelli 404 Yacht

Also a big fan of this shape, so much so that the first two pipes I purchased were zulus - a Barling and a Savanelli 404. The Sav is one of my very favorites. I should get a couple more. And one of the Pete's too.

***What Are You Smoking, August 2024?***

I'm smoking some GH Brown Flake Aro in my favorite wee Medico dublin. I managed to dry it out enough and it's just glorious. With a hefe/limonata radler to keep things interesting!

If You Could Visit any Pipe Shop...

À la Pipe du Nord in Paris would be one for me.

    Rossi 6mm Filter Fitment

I've used the Dr Perl 6 mm charcoal filters in my cobs and Savinelli, and they do fit tightly. The balsa sticks are good for absorbing moisture. I mostly use paper filters, though.

    Thanks for the Recommendations!

Nothing wrong with a Molina. I have a bent version of the same pipe and it's a fine smoker. I like the way it looks, too.
