Certainly do.....Great chap .... I doubt'd he'd have been heard of by the non-uk forum members though....I didn't remember him being a pipe man of the year though but now you mention it....

    Comedy Pipe?

This chap, Jethro, was a West Country comedian in the UK.....the second skit in this video shows him with a particularly large pipe....is it real or a prop do you think?

My virginity has been taken ...

Have to admit I don't like Consumate gentlemen either nor the popular Early Morning Pipe.....try a few sample packs ... After three years I now have my favourites but I also have some shelved tins I will give away when I find another local pipe smoker

    Screw in bulldog stem problem

Hi chaps, thanks for all the pointers and advice- I tried a bit of everything. In the end I warmed the stem very gently, wound some pvc tape around the thread and eased the threaded tenon out a smidge....it worked an absolute treat and is now perfectly aligned! just need to give it a salt...

    Screw in bulldog stem problem

Thanks for that - Chester is not so far from me so that would be cool! and I will try the teflon tape (I have loads....a lifetime's supply in fact!) before I go any further.

    Screw in bulldog stem problem

Thanks...that will be a challenge but I see what you are saying - I will wait for the concensus and go from there as you say....I noticed the stem is actually a little loose too but imagine that will tighten with smoking and moisture so don't think I will try and adjust that bit yet

    Screw in bulldog stem problem

Three additional photos as suggested, thanks for all the feedback so far, much appreciated! I hoped it was real amber but suspect that isn't the case....although it is in very good unchewed condition.....

    Screw in bulldog stem problem

Hi all, I have just bought and ebay estate pipe a cased bulldog, it doesn't appear to be a brand but it does have SP on the silver band. I bought it as one to restore and have got it cleaned, restained and polished and its looking promising.....however... I have an issue in as much as the stem...

    My Great Great Grandpappy

This is my great grandfather born in 1875 England-he was recovering from pernicious anaemia (although it killed him shortly after) in Bournemouth on seaside holiday in the 1930s after a life as a butler and valet. I had this photo for years and only recently spotted that he was enjoying his pipe...

    Army Mount

I know this is an old thread but I have two, and a system, all Peterson and after a couple of years with a pipe these have now become my go to pipes.....they are so easy to pull apart and blow out the moisture in seconds that I find them so much more relaxing than the others

    Pipes and the BBC

BBC is so bad these days I don't even have a licence as I have no intention of watching it .... but when they did do comedy you can't beat Alf Garnet as an ambassador of the briar!

What was Smoking a Pipe Like 100 Years Ago?

My Lady Nicotine: a study in smoke by JM Barrie was published in 1890, as well as being a social commentary of the time in a very funny way, it gives a great insight to pipe and cigar smoking during that era. I enjoyed it so much on my kindle I searched out and bought a hard back copy!
