    Remembering McClelland Red Virginias

For me, 40th anniversary and the Christmas Cheers are always special. This was a company that always placed an emphasis on high quality. Makes me think that perhaps all their offerings were solid, personally didn’t try all their blends, but their ‘house style’ might have not been on everyone’s...

What Are You Drinking? September 2022

Glenfarclas makes excellent whisky. Also, very fairly priced within the single malt category. Has been on my recommendation list for many years.

    Wusthof

Forged Wusthof knives are a great value. They have been used in professional kitchen around the world for ages. Being made of soft steel they can take a fair amount of abuse and are easy to hone and sharpen.

    Wood Match Annoyance

I mostly use Solstickan matches, produced by Swedish Match Industries, with virtually no problems. No broken sticks or flying sparks. I think they also manufacture Swan Vestas. A little hard to find but an excellent product.

What Pipe Would You Buy if You Had $200 to Spend?

I would buy pipes by Radice, Posella or Jacono, new would fit the budget. As estates, Cavicchi or Ruthenberg. Pipes that I own from these artisans smoke fantastic so far.

    Corona Old Boy Lighter

Mine has proved to be an excellent lighter. Been using it for about 8 years now without a single issue. Have a few more Corona lighters and they all work great. Very happy with them.

    FVF - Too Much Age?

Tobacco being an agricultural product it will always have fluctuations from crop to crop. How it is handled after harvest to the point of tinning is out of our control. We have control regarding tin storage. I believe that a fairly cool environment with no temperature and humidity fluctuations...

    Vintage American Pipes

Paul Perri made pipes for many decades. The ones I own are excellent smokers. Fit and finish not the sharpest but nonetheless excellent smoking instruments.

    My First Buzz

In my experience, something sweet like a soda might help. I had people next to me smoking cigars that were strong in nicotine having the same symptoms that you describe. In these cases sweet beverages like Coca Cola helped. YMMV

    The Pipe Smoker Wars

Water flushers vs non water flushers. Throwing pipe cleaners at each other. Luckily that we are above such trivial things.

Anyone Heard of this Texas Bourbon?

Balcones produces good distilled spirits. My recommendation is True Blue, made with blue Hopi corn and higher in strength than Baby Blue.
