I Will Be Introducing a Cigar Guy To Pipe Smoking...

RE: A different friend (not the one referenced in the OP): I was meeting a different friend of mine for drinks after work Friday, and I told him I was stopping by a nearby cigar shop beforehand, so he met me there instead of at the bar. We looked at the pipes, and he bought a Missouri...

I Will Be Introducing a Cigar Guy To Pipe Smoking...

Hello everyone. Lost my internet for a day, and the thread got away from me. Thanks for mixture of comments on my topic and some entertainment. I laughed out loud several times reading this. I will take many comments to heart, and we will do our best. It did occur to me that he might be a...

I Will Be Introducing a Cigar Guy To Pipe Smoking...

Warren: I think you and I view pipe smoking differently. What you smoke in one day, I might take several months to smoke. I don't view it as a burden to be discouraged. I view it as something to be casually enjoyed when I want a time out from life. And, this guy already smokes like that...

I Will Be Introducing a Cigar Guy To Pipe Smoking...

"an hour or two on Sunday to clean the pipes" Wow. I'm speechless. I guess I'm doing it wrong, because I am certainly not doing that.

I Will Be Introducing a Cigar Guy To Pipe Smoking...

Hi Warren. By "wrestling with the humidor," I was just using a colorful phrase to refer to the work required to keep cigars in good shape--humidity maintenance. He mentioned he had a bunch dry out...and at $10 a pop, that's not good. Yeah, you can rehabilitate, I suppose, but again, more...

I Will Be Introducing a Cigar Guy To Pipe Smoking...

A business colleague of mine is a recreational cigar smoker. He doesn't smoke daily. He's more of an out-with-the-guys smoker, but I gather he does it fairly often when he is out with the guys. And yet, he lamented wrestling with a humidor, etc. When I told him that I had tried pipe smoking...

    Cheap vs Expensive Pipes?

I have a a $75 pipe, a $40 pipe, and $12 pipe. I like them in that order, but I'm not fooling myself: If I only had the $12, I'd be fine. I can afford the $70, and it makes me feel more gentlemanly to smoke it. If it is a special occasion, that is the one I grab. I would probably feel even...

Do You Really Like to Smoke a Pipe With Filter

I use a Vauen with a charcoal filter. I like it. I go without sometimes, but it seems a smoother smoke with it. Caveat: I've been smoking for a year, and I don't smoke a lot. I'm still figuring out what I like.

    How long should I cellar?

Aw, crap. I just ordered my first 8 oz. containers ever, thinking I could cellar them in jars without affecting them. I don't smoke quickly, so maybe this was a mistake.

Taking A Week Off Seems To Renew The Enjoyment

I'm trying to limit myself to an average of two bowls per month. I've been tracking my smokes in 2019, and I'm at 2.4/mo. I don't know if that low rate qualifies me as a "tobacco product user," but it probably does. I know that some people do that in a day, but for health reasons, I'm trying...

    Peterson vs Vauen

I'd been smoking my JJ Fox and MM cob, filterless and liking them. This thread prompted me get my Vauen out again, and I loved it, of course. I better order some filters. Maybe as the Father's Day deals start coming.

    Peterson vs Vauen

I will add: I use my Vauen with filters. I use my other pipes without filters. Depends on my mood. When I started out (one year ago), I liked the filter, so I loved my Vauen (and I still do). Lately, I find that I'm starting to lean toward non-filtered smoking. (Still, you can smoke...

    Peterson vs Vauen

I like my Vauen. I don't have a Peterson. I thought Vauen was a pretty well known name. But, when I was in The Briar & The Burley (Bloomington, IN...a store with an amazingly large inventory of pipes), I asked if they had any Vauens, and the guy behind the counter said he'd never heard the name...

The Emperor's New Clothes, Musings of a New Pipe Smoker

Frozenchurchwarden: Any specific recommendations for high quality Virginia Flake? I've been looking for some Samuel Gawith Full Virginia Flake, but it is never available. Starting to wonder if the company has gone out of business. Maybe just not available in the States???

    Finally Got Some Real Tobacco...

I'm a huge fan of Quiet Nights. I too remember opening it up, and smelling the campfire, and wondering whether it would be any good...and it turned out to be my favorite. You are making me want to try Gas Light.

Idea for Tobacco Makers: Jar Labels for each Product

Or, even if they don't want to provide labels for free, give the customer a chance to pay for them. A round label for a lid, and a rectangular label for the side of the jar.
