    Hardcastle Camden

I have 3 Hardcastle pipes and they all seem to be very good quality. I think the Camden line is fairly early. Bit of info on pipedia. That one you are looking at seems tidy enough.

New Tobacco Importing Rules For New Zealand

In the news this morning. No longer able to bring in whole leaf tax free. This is part of the Governments 'Smoke free 2025' quest but they still want the tax in the meantime. Tobacco tax increases 10% per year here. No permit required to import cigars though, still got to pay the tax on them...

New Zealand Bans Importing Some Tobacco Products

Something like this has been on the cards for a while now. I live in NZ and have been purchasing pipe tobacco from overseas for almost 18 months and all of my packages have slipped through customs un-molested. I have also previously imported whole leaf tobacco but that became a hassle as it all...

Cellars - Complete or Still Working?

Still increasing the cellar here, I aim to adhere to my T.A.P (Tobacco Acquisition Plan) and make a monthly purchase. I figure I may only have until 2025 to purchase all I need for the future before the Government's 'Smoke Free 2025' comes into effect. Though luckily all my purchases have snuck...

Going To Vietnam, Any Members From There? Or Any Tips While Visiting?

We are heading to Vietnam at the end of March for a couple of weeks. Are there any forum members from there who could fill me in about the state of pipe smoking there. From what I gather most people smoke cigs or a local tobacco which is consumed through bamboo pipes. Is it even possible to get...

Touring Europe, New Zealand, Australia, Taking a Few Pipes. Suggest Great Tobacconists I Might Visit?

Well there are very few tobacconists in NZ and tobacco is VERY expensive - try about 9 times the cost in USA. oh and you can only enter the country with no more than 50 grams of tobacco per person and, of course, no smoking in any venues, cafe's, bars etc However, I would be plesed to welcome...

UK Aims to Eliminate Smoking by 2030

Well we are way ahead here (New Zealand), Smoke Free 2025 is the goal. Though there is a referendum next year to decide if marijuana will be made legal. I figure I've got til then to get my cellar stocked, if im lucky. Currently tobacco tax goes up 10% on the first of January each year until then.

    Any Bird Watchers In Here?

I live on a peninsula that is known as the wildlife capital of New Zealand, i'm just a short distance from the only mainland breeding site of the Royal Albatross which has a 10ft wing span. There are also 2 penguin species that live nearby plus lots of native bush birds and many different waders...

    New Zealand Briar Society

Hey kiwiazz. That’s not a bad idea but there are only a few pipe smokers I know of, perhaps it would bring a few more out of the woodwork. If you are keen to then start a page up and see what happens, could be good to arrange meet-ups from time to time.

    New Zealand Briar Society

Nice job on the artwork. Overall I like the last one the best, mostly because the fern is a bit smaller and doesn't compete with the pipe so much. By the way where abouts are you located?

    Buying Online from New Zealand

Importing wholeleaf into NZ works ok, but expect to wait at least 4 weeks to get it as there will most likely be a delay when it gets to customs and is sent for heat treatment. Heat treatment has gone up in price - was $45 last year. Shredders are available for about $250 for a decent machine...
