    Exorcising a Ghost

The ghost is probably hanging around in the airway of the stem. Use The Pink Stuff to remove it!

    The Pink Stuff

Like I said guys, it's just another tool in the ammo box against the ghosts of smokers past. It's very worthwhile to keep around for those stubburn stems that don't want to give up the ghost! As a side note... I hesitate to use "whitening" toothpaste in the airway of a stem due to the fact it...

    The Pink Stuff

Yes, like that! I didn't quite angle to those extremes, except a few strokes to either side. I did it slowly and checked often. Also I constantly rotated the stem about it's axis as I stroked. I tried the red rouge as well on the Perspex, it did get some of it out, but I wasn't able to get it...

    The Pink Stuff

Not really dipping. It's a paste, so I took a churchwarden length pipe cleaner and clamped one end in a small vise. Smear The Pink Stuff along the pipe cleaner. Insert other end in pipe stem and hold the end with a pair of pliers. Hold the pipe cleaner tight and straight with pliers while...

    The Pink Stuff

I'm quite familiar with how to remove external oxidation. Whitening toothpaste, dish soap, and or alcohol will not remove all past tobacco smells from the airway of all old ebonite stems, from by experience and certainly not from a Perspex stem (no alcohol allowed, per Jesse). I've tried it many...

    The Pink Stuff

Niether will remove oxidized rubber, or old ghosted rubber from within the airway. The Pink Stuff will do it easily with proper technique.

    Tinbids Observations

My observations on tinbids recently is that they increased their commision on tins sold from 15% to 18.5% and the high bidder failed to pay 30% of the time. I had to relist some tins 3 times! Most of the bidders are from China. Tinbids claims that they don't take non-payment lightly and ban...

    The Pink Stuff

Hey, I got my Edible Plants merit badge in Boy Scouts by cooking, and eating stinging nettles, and no, it doesn't taste like chicken. Wasn't fun to prepare though

    The Pink Stuff

Purchased an old Barling with a clear Perspex stem that I couldn't get the stains and taste out of no matter how long I used flitz or soapy water. I found The Pink Stuff and had the airway cleaned and tasteing fresh after 5 minutes.

    The Pink Stuff

Like I said, The Pink Stuff is really great for cleaning the AIRWAY of the stem. In fact, I've found that it works so well that it removes ghost taste from the stem as well. It feels the same as if you ground up a bar of lava soap and made a paste out of it. I use the flitz on the outside of...

Dad Died Last Weekend And I Inherited His Pipes etc.

Sorry to hear about your Dad. Enjoy his pipes!

    The Pink Stuff

Yes! This is really great stuff for vulcanite pipe stems. It's much more abrasive than flitz or any toothpaste. It's vegetable based and has no harmful chemicals. I found it's the perfect choice for cleaning the airway on an old vulcanite pipe stem. Put some on a churchwarden pipe cleaner...

    Any Advice on Quitting Cigarettes?

Update to my response post from a year ago on May 6. I had been wanting to quit the cigs. This past Feb I got really sick with an upper respatory cold. My lungs were filled with congestion and I tore a inter-coastal muscle, they are the muscles between your ribs. It feels just like a broken...

    Thoughts on a Second Pipe

And down the rabbit hole he goes...

    Thoughts on a Second Pipe

This might float your boat ... a MM Mark Twain, because they tend to have ticker walls. Get the "bent" version and combine it with a vulcanite Churchwarden Forever Stem. IMO it's going to be difficult to find a quality pipe for under $50 outside of MM cobs. Secondhand estate pipes notwithstanding.

    Need Some Advice, Please!

Time is your friend here. You will find out that many of the tins you bought weren't as good as you might have anticipated, and slowly but surely figure out that it's just not worth the cost to continue down that rabbit hole. It might take several years, but eventually you will find a few...

    Onward And Upward

I'm doing ok, but thanks for asking. Turns out living off the grid and off the land in a remote area was easy compared to living in a city with society, bills, obligations and all that goes along with a "normal" life, but I'm enjoying being closer to my children, and that's important to me...

    Air Purifiers Tested

Nice work! Thanks for sharing this. I still like my ventilation fans, as they don't require purifying the room air after use. Smoking Room Ventilation :: General Pipe Smoking Discussion - https://pipesmagazine.com/forums/threads/smoking-room-ventilation.90255/
