    Orange tree pipes

I've heard about any fruit tree wood is suitable for pipe making. We have olive wood, pear wood, cherry wood, and others already so it seems to me that there'd be no harm in experimenting. Besides if you've already seen lemon tree wood used I can't see why orange couldn't be. If you can get...

Remove estate pipe smell HELP PLEASE

How do aluminum and oxyclean not get along? Does it just cause it to oxidize? From what I can recall of the oxidation of aluminum it actually serves to strengthen it in a way and is almost always already oxidized. But heck maybe I'm remembering wrong. Any engineers or metal workers around to...

    Latest Work in Progress!

Oh goodness me...I think I'm in love. That is a beautiful shape. Hurry up and finish it! My salivary glands have been looking for a workout. :D

Hello Uncle A are you still out there?

Well I'll chime in I suppose. I would posit that perhaps UA does feel well enough to post occasionally but not to make it out to the post office (he's out a ways as I understand) and just doesn't want to be posting here on account of feeling like a heel for not sending the pipes out. It would...

What Are You Smoking? February II

Some University Flake in the Gourd Calabash my sister just gave me as an early b-day present. :puffy:

List Your Other Hobbies / Interests

Heck I almost forgot that I recently started acquiring straight razors. I would have forgotten entirely if I hadn't just come back from the flea market with some. Thanks to building a good rapport with one of the antiques guys there I just came back with five that he practically gave me for...

List Your Other Hobbies / Interests

I am a man who wears many hats. I play guitar, bass, and screw around with several other instruments. I do some electronics work, for example I recently soldered down my first surface mount component in a mini headphone amplifier and a little while ago I added a passive tone and volume control...

    Weird World of Pipe Smoking

On Mr. Rubber: To every aspect and activity of the human experience you can put a safe bet on there being a fetish associated with it. It's just the way some of our brains work. On the Sideshowman: I got a kick out of that video. I haven't done that trick since high school. As far as...

    dungeons and dragons books

I'm going to have to side with Romeowood on this one. AD&D is a pretty niche market with how complex it is, so the folks who would go for 'em are a small market and they're mostly pretty common. The 3rd (or 3.5) books you've got there are even more common. Gary Gygax passing away recently (a...

    Burn Out Repair

The best way I can think to repair a burn out would be to drill it and turn a dowel of appropriate size from briar and glue it in. You could hide the repair with some rustication and have filled it with a material we all know can stand the heat. I'm about as experienced with such a thing as...

    Looks pretty broken.

In my preferred browser of Opera at least. Temporary I'm sure but I just thought I'd say so in case it wasn't known.

    Whoa

Well it looks like this to me...it is not a pipe with two bowls. It is two pipes and they just happen to be connected. That little bit there is a plug to fit while you are smoking one of the two and you just fit the stem to the pipe you want to smoke. I wish we had a good angle but I'm pretty...

Found a great Edmonton Tobacconist, Pics Attached

Ah yes I love that place. I was there in the summer when I was moving across Canada on my way to Yellowknife for Folk on the Rocks. I went there with my brother who lives there on the way back who cursed me for both turning him on to pipe smoking and showing him such a dynamite shop to drop...

Balkan Sovereignty - I think this is Funny, but Not Sure

I personally think this thread has become completely ridiculous. I didn't like the video so I didn't continue watching and that's that. I also do not like to see something start as one thing and become a circus of apologies and bowing. Could we not just accept that people have different...

Bare minimum tools needed for pipe crafting

I would say the the absolute bare minimum would be a coping saw, a rasp, a drill, and sandpaper. If you're coming from a kit the drill won't be necessary. If you want to get more bare drop the saw and make it a hand drill. Just be prepared to become very good friends with sore arms. :D

    Turning frustrations

Haha I would definitely recommend giving it a go. I was a little intimidated by it at first but once I had it in front of me it seemed much less so. It's pretty much the same work as putting a chisel to wood except the wood is doing the moving. As long as your tools are sharp there's nothing...

    Turning frustrations

I was just trying to turn a piece of walnut down to 3 mm (+/- .1 for both a challenge and a project) and it just snapped when I was within .8 mm. AGH! So dang infuriating. Threw my safety glasses across the room and just about threw my chisel at the floor. Whew. I just had to get that off my...

Can someone give me the low-down on Brigham filters?

I would say that yes they do make a difference. If you're an aromatic fella or have trouble with gurgles I've found that they can eliminate that entirely. Can you smoke without them? Of course, and it's all up to what you prefer. How long? Hard to say, I've never measured. It'll depend on...

    Spiral pack method ?

Zero G pack maybe? I have done it and I was met with success. A fine smoke and pretty simple.
