A 1940's Magazine Article On Pipe Smoking

RE Loyd. When I started in 1962, Wetting the bowl was a common break in instruction. But, not soaking the strumel.

    Pipe Shape Suggestions

Mother, I think that one should have 3 pipe chamber types. They are a conical chamber(Dublin, Rhodesian, Bulldog), a cylindrical chamber (Billiard, Canadian) and a shallow wide chamber(Pot, Prince). You have the first two already. So, get a Pot or a prince to complete your rotation. Your...

I Hate to Post This..Briar Patch Closing

Just in. My heart is heavy to see this. // It is with a heavy heart that we announce the closure of the Briar Patch. The Briar Patch has been a leader in the Sacramento tobacco community since the 1970s. Due to the continued aggressive anti-tobacco policies of the City of Sacramento and the...

    Any Linux Users?

I have tried to set up Ubuntu as a duel boot and with windows 10 it will not set it up. Has Windows 10 made it impossible to do a dual boot? I am very frustrated.

    Boswell or Tinsky??

I have 2 Tinsky. I bought a Boswell and immediately sold it as I did not like the workmanship/design. I am sure that they are good pipes just not my style. The Tinsky pipes are my favorite.

    Conical Bowls

willyspiper. I am glad that the instructions have helped. I wonder if we need to wet the chamber sides after the bowl is broken in. Seems to be working well for you. I do like the 3 Kirsten pipes I have but enjoy my classic briar pipes too. Happy puffing!

    Conical Bowls

I had some instructions for packing Kirsten pipes. The standard bowel is a conical shape. Check if you have instructions or they may be on the Kirsten site. As I recall, it says to pack with one fill and compress tightly. It works for me. And, it may have to do with the draft hole being dead...

    Can't Taste Tobaccos

If none of the above good suggestions solves the problem, Note that some of us have a seasonal preference for VA & Va/Pr in the summer and Lat foreword blends in the fall and winter. This is because they taste better to us in those seasons. YMMV So stay the coarse and happy pipe smoking. It is...

Nimrod lighter question, possibly just an idiot

Mine does not have anything. It does look like one could be installed although "O" rings usually are compressed against a parallel surface and this would be compressed on an angled surface. I looked at the original patent and no seal/gasket is indicated. I do not use it often enough to say how...

Has Any Member Really Run Out of Tobacco?

I must have 40 years ago. Living BF Idaho. But, the trauma was severe. I have blacked out the whole event. Thanks to this assemblage I have a 20 year supply hidden away. Enough to make it to my 96th birthday.

    Maybe times are changing

My wife is my main critic. The same blend will get a different response it seems. I rarely smoke aromatics and was wondering if there are some non Aeros that the public likes. Probably the ones ""grandpa" smoked.

    Maybe times are changing

Question to those who get comments. Are you smoking aromatics? If you are smoking straight tobacc what type?
