Essential or Not: What's Missing In Your Pipe Gear?

I just bought a set of buffing discs. I'll buff the bowl of an estate to a shine but I always do the stamps by hand for the same reason.

Essential or Not: What's Missing In Your Pipe Gear?

Me too! I'm a woodworker and have tried my hand at leather making once or twice. I REALLY like it. But like woodworking and pipes and tobacco, it's really easy to outspend my availability.

Essential or Not: What's Missing In Your Pipe Gear?

Hahahaha. I didn't know those were even available. Is this some Esoterica-level rarity shit? I just checked Smokingpipes, and they are sold out.

Essential or Not: What's Missing In Your Pipe Gear?

What's a common item that just never made it to your pipe shelf? I've had a pipe for 20 years, but I have never owned an ashtray, pipe knocker, pipe rack, or pipe stand. Just curious who else has gone years or decades without a part of some "standard" kit.

    Savinelli St. Nicholas - 2023

There's a lot of Christmas pipes out there, and uh, not too many Chanukah pipes, so we made a pipe for all those nice little Jewish kids who don't get to grab any Chanukah pipes. Here we go.

    Labels.

Geez guys. I don't actually have too much time on my hands, but you wouldn't know it from this pic.

    PAD Hitting Hard Lately

I wonder why. IIRC Vauen used to have the official LotR line, but now it's gone to Shire Pipes, and they look cheesy and like they aren't meant to be smoked. And they're $50. So maybe Vauen had some price guarantee? I found that I can order one from Italy for less than $200 to my door. Pipe...

    Box Pass 2023 Signup

I didn't even get you were making a reference and still read it in the Soup Nazi tone.

    PAD Hitting Hard Lately

It's an excellent churchwarden. The first thing you'll notice about the Vauen Auenland is its quality. I had very high expectations for a $300 pipe, and it still blew me away. The details are fantastic, it has a nice heft and smokes wonderfully. It's a perfect sitter. You can sit comfortably...

    PAD Hitting Hard Lately

Yep. I went from 1 pipe to 3 pipes to a spreadsheet as well. I can't tell how many I'd NEVER get rid of, so let's see. <- This Peterson 314 was my first and only pipe for years and years when I only knew about BCA and 1Q. I'll die with it. Both of my Savinelli 673's are special. I bought a set...

***What Are You Smoking, July 2023?***

Damn, Jim! I had a slice of leftover pizza. I should pop over to your place. I'm half-way through a bowl of 3-year-old Plum Pudding in my Savinelli 315 Roma. It's sublime, but it punched me in the face with some Vitamin N. I took a short break and am about to go finish it off.

***What Are You Smoking, July 2023?***

TCS Rivendell in my Vauen Auenland. This is such a fun pipe.

Oh man! What an excellent smoke! Thank you good sir.

***What Are You Smoking, July 2023?***

Inaugural smoke in my new (to me) Castello Sea Rock! First Castello. H/T @dog_park_piper!

    PAD Hitting Hard Lately

I've doubled my collection this year. I absolutely loved the Savinelli Luisa Fiammata release. I got a smooth 614, and a pair of sandblasted 673s for me and my brother. I snagged a Ser Jacopo Hawkbill when SP had their 15% off estates sale, and I found an unsmoked Denmark-era gold-crown...

    RIP Alan Arkin

If You Could Have Only One...

Looks like a great trip! I like Bag End a lot and was pleasantly surprised by Second Breakfast. I am not a fan of Autumn Evening, and I was worried about the maple. But that tobacco is well-balanced. My favorite of the Middle Earth series is Green Dragon. Check it out if you haven't.

    Question about Peterson Nightcap

I love Nightcap but I always pack a small bowl. I second a tin of Plum Pudding in your cart sometime soon. If you want to branch out a bit, you might also like Sutliff's Revelation Match.
