    Morta Finish

And the first Morta has arrived! A smooth from Moretti: Any advice for the layman on care? Normally I polish smooth pipes with Paragon Wax, but this pipe is not quite smooth (small grooves and holes where the pipe seems to be a bit porous). Thanks, Dave

    Morta Finish

@jerwynn, yes definitely some beauties here! @1coyote, I've actually got 2 on the way (smooth finishes, and one is more like a Morta cigar), but the commission sandblast will be done by Todd Harris.

    Morta Finish

Very cool @clickklick. So I'm guessing you could easily have a pipe with both patterns on it? Also, just a question in general--the pipemaker has control over how spread out and how deep the blast is? For example the first pipe below seems to have a much more spread out and more aggressive...

    Morta Finish

So is the sandblasting the circular lines on the right pipe, and the grain is the straight lines? And on the left pipe, the sandblasting is the circles opening towards the left, and the grain the rightwards facing circles?

    Morta Finish

Hi All, Planning on getting a commissioned Morta in the coming months and just trying to figure out how to describe the finish I want. I've been informed that both of the pipes above have been sandblasted, but is the different look due to different sandblasting techniques, or different natural...

    Tongue Burn on nosewarmer

All, thanks for the valuable feeback. I tried drying my tobacco out a bit more than usual (Trout Stream, an aro I've yet to get tongue burn with in other pipes), and packed just a little bit tighter. Very nice smoke! Thanks again.

    Tongue Burn on nosewarmer

Well, I am a big fan of the aesthetic and feel of the pipe, which is also why I wondered if getting a similar shape from someone else would yield the same result.

    Tongue Burn on nosewarmer

Thanks for the advice. Using a zippo lighter, but I think I had the same result when I tried with matches. I guess my real question is, is there any chance that this has to do with the pipe, or is it purely a technical issue on my part? If I were to pick up one of these for example...

    Tongue Burn on nosewarmer

Hi All, Recently picked up this beauty poker nosewarmer. Great clencher and a nice and open airway, but when I light it, it seems the flame goes right to my tongue as if I'm holding the lighter right in my mouth. When I go for a relight the same issue often comes back. Once I get into a...

Does anyone know when the Mac Baren 7 Seas blends were released? Trying to figure out if I need to stock up. Thanks!

Pipe Tobacco like a high quality Black & Mild

Thanks for the advice! I was always under the impression that Lane tobaccos came overly wet with a fair amount of bite, and would be just as hard as the b&m cigars to coax the flavor out of. I guess this isn't the case?

Pipe Tobacco like a high quality Black & Mild

Hey All, Do any of you know of any aro blends that taste like a black & mild smells? Looking for a dark fruit/vanilla type flavor. I tried Erik Stokkebye - 4th Generation 1957, which has the right room note, but like b&ms, the flavor is lost on the tongue... Any recommendations? Thanks!

    Pipe Finish Dulling

    Thanks for the replies!

    Pipe Finish Dulling

Thanks for the advice. So I guess the lack of wax doesn't make the pipe any more vulnerable to charring/burnout etc.?

    Pipe Finish Dulling

Please forgive the photos and the shoddy Paint work-- I have a few pipes where it looks like the finish is dulled in some parts (one after applying a bit of saliva to the rim to rub out a char mark, and one I believe just came that way). I'm not able to tell if these have been finished with...

Is My Pipe Stem Upside Down?

Hi, Just wondering if there's any trick to determining right side up on an unmarked tapered stem? I have one of these at home: https://www.smokingpipes.com/pipes/new/Genod/moreinfo.cfm?product_id=179457, and it's pretty tough to tell when I take the stem out. Thanks, Dave
