***What Are You Smoking, June 2021?***

Well tonight was a late one. Dinner at a colleagues house that went until 1:30. But the good part is that it's now 2:20 AM and it's FINALLY 90 degrees F, which makes this the most comfortable patio bowl in a couple of weeks. Highs the last five days have been 112, 115, 115, 114, and 112, which...

Thought I'd Try to Make Some Mouths Water

Welcome to town! You picked a good week to move in! ? I moved here from the Midwest about 5 yrs ago. Probably leaving soon though (job related). I’m pretty sure at least half of that tobacco is beyond the expiration dates. I’ll be right over to help with disposal.

***What Are You Smoking, June 2021?***

Currently having some Gawith Brown Flake Unscented in a Sasieni two dot 1/8th bent billiard. It's 12:08 AM and it's STILL 99 degrees F at my location.

    Nominate An Under-Appreciated Pipe Brand

I feel like Tsuge sometimes deserves more love. Their mid level pipes like the Tokyo series are interesting, elegant, and well constructed, and the Ikebana line competes well with the best of any major pipe manufacturer world-wide.

    Costco Cognac, mmm!

My dad and I both enjoy the Kirkland cognac. In fact, he just left me a bottle after staying with us for a few days. It’s a damn good deal for an XO, and while it’s not the best around it’s better than average for sure. It holds its own against bottles twice the price. I’ve had good...

Ever Hate a Pipe for Reasons Other Than the Way It Smokes?

Yep. The longer I smoke, the more picky I’ve become about stemwork, and especially the button. I have a few pipes that are great smokers that will probably show up in the for sale section sometime soon because the stem just doesn’t suit me.

How Many Smoke Out of the C&D Tins?

I will immediately jar most tins I open unless it’s something I know I’ll finish something on. For instance, I know that when I open a tin of Fillmore or sixpence it will likely be gone in 1-2 weeks and the C and D/GL Pease tins are perfectly sufficient to hold moisture for at least a month...

    Sutliff Crumble Kake Red VA...Thoughts?

I’ve got a tin of this in the cellar. My Secret Santa giftee identified it as one of his favorites, so I snagged an extra tin for myself. I think I’ll give it another year or so before opening, however. I found RC-515 to be MUCH better, less vinegary, and smoother after a year or so in a jar.

    A Few Blends, Quick Ranks

Fillmore is my favorite VaPer right now. I’ve only tried it fresh and 3 yrs old. The 3 yr old tin was exquisite but the fresh was pretty darn good too. I’d love to try some at 15 yrs!

What's Your Favorite Pipe for Backpacking or Camping?

I’d go with a Morgan bones, maybe one of the short ones so the stem doesn’t get damaged. I just think the plastic stems on MM cobs are too prone to breakage. But what do I know. I just finished a 3 day trip down the Escalante in Utah and while I brought two pipes, the one I smoked exclusively...

    Your Own Secret Blend?!?!?

I just mixed up 40 percent C and D The Beast, 40 percent Yorktown, and 20 percent stoved Va. letting it sit for two weeks and then I’ll give it a shot, but considering the constituent tobaccos I’m sure it will be quite tasty.

Order from KBV Held Up by USPS for Two Weeks?

My KBV order arrived today. Shipped on May 9th, so it took 18 days from Memphis area to Tucson. Funny enough, a pipe also arrived today. Shipped Monday from MS and supposed to arrive tomorrow, but it came a day early. You win some, you lose some, I suppose.

Order from KBV Held Up by USPS for Two Weeks?

Hey @sandollars, did your KBV order ever come? I'm still waiting on mine, and the tracking hasn't even been update (except to say: running late) in 8 days.

Smoking an Entire Tin as a Learning Process

I’m a little late to this party, but this is a great post! I’m glad to have been a part of your introduction to Va and VaPer tobaccos! For the first couple of years I was a regular pipe smoker I pretty much exclusively jumped from blend to blend, rarely repeating a smoke back-to-back. But in...

Order from KBV Held Up by USPS for Two Weeks?

Yep. There is a certain faction that would be thrilled to see USPS die so their private enterprise buddies could make billions off the left-overs.

Order from KBV Held Up by USPS for Two Weeks?

My last KBV order was delayed and I currently have an order in the mail that is also delayed. The last one went on an unexpected excursion to Bismarck, ND, which is not generally seen as on the way between Memphis and Tucson. This last order took 3 days to get out of the local post office and...

    VaPer/Or Blend Recommendations?

So, I have never tried Ascanian 1 or 2. #2 sounds like it would be right up my alley. Given that Estervals is no longer shipping to the US, are there any other options for Americans interested in ordering this tobacco?

    Remember Your First Estate Pipe?

I do. It was my first pipe. I was more of a cigar smoker and decided to treat myself to a pipe for my 29th birthday. Not really knowing much of anything, I bought a Stanwell bamboo estate off of Smoking pipes. I still have it and smoke it occasionally. It has some of the best straight grain...

    Stalin and Pipe Smoking

Also, this really does belong in "General Discussion." There is pretty much nothing in the OP that is pipe related, other than the fact that it's about a pipe smoker.

    Stalin and Pipe Smoking

So what are you saying here? That Portland and the NIH is communist? You're aware that political talk is not allowed on these forums, yes?
