    The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes

Sherlock Holmes and Spock were deeply significant to me as a kid. Also, a book of three short stories I read in grade school, published by Scholastic Book Services (anyone else remember them?) by Jacques Futrelle, called The Thinking Machine: Adventures of a Mastermind. I have a copy of it. The...

Why Numbers On A Watch Face?

I'm attracted to dive watches even though I'm not interested in diving. German watches especially appeal to me.

    What are You Reading?

John Gardner - Mickelsson's Ghosts (1982) Gardner's last novel. He died in a motorcycle accident. The novel's main character, a Professor of Philosophy down on his luck, is a pipe smoker, as was Gardner.

What's the Most You Would Ever Spend on a Pipe?

I'd like to have a couple of Castellos. So whatever that might cost is my high end. Realistically, I probably wouldn't go much higher than the cost of a Glock.

    The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes

A few weeks ago, I bought an unread, 2 volume set of Baring-Gould's Annotated Sherlock Holmes. In the late 1970s/early 80s, I read the stories and novels aloud to my then wife.

An Open Apology to Cob Smokers

I went the other direction. I tossed my Cobs a few weeks ago.

How about a Mobile Version of PM?

A mobile version or app might be nice, but I've got no complaints about reading or posting here with an iPhone. That said, I use the Amazon app, not the full, non-mobile version. Same for Smokingpipes and Sweetwater (music store) mobile non-app versions, and the OKCupid app (dating). But those...

    JFK (1991 movie)

Vincent Bugilosi (1934 - 2015), Four Days in November is a good telling of the details known of Oswald and the assassination. I haven't read his larger book, Reclaiming History (2007), from which this was extracted.
