***What Are You Smoking, April 2021?***

Just some Kentucky and prelip oriental mixed 50/50 ribbon cut. Actually quite nice. Smooth, cool with cinnamon/clove/wood/leather notes. A touch of sweetness. Through a cob.

Drying Tobacco in a Humid Climate?

Ive seen people use an incandescent desk lamp. Could try that?

    Gift Pipe Problem

Ya I would go to the shop in person. if you end up having to keep the pipe it can be repaired(either professionally or by yourself) I have some pipes with a crack there and I used some waxed thread tied around the shank which has held up well for many smokes. but your pipe is definitely not...

Why The Heavy Use of Red VA In VaPers?

Depends on how its processed too. a minimally processed red will be more bready, while something that's been pressed and aged/fermented a while or stoved will be more fruity and tangy. Brights on the other hand will be more grassy and citrus at first but become more creamy, herbal and floral...

To Falcon or Not To Falcon

I just bought one on eBay. I had a few before, including a very small size "the brentford" and sold them and now I miss them. They do preform very well with a cooler drier smoke(but not necessarily better flavour) and the construction is quality. I am a fan of slightly smaller bowls and open...

    Cob Pipe Attributes

Another thing for me is bowl size. I find the legend and pride(.75" x 1.25") to be perfect for me most of the time as I don't want a really long smoke. Not as optimal for complex kitchen sink ribbon cut blends, but I do have other pipes for those and I smoke mostly flakes, cakes and twist anyway.

    What’s in your Spring/Summer Rotation.

There is something about latakia blends when it's chilly and rainy that go well together. Here in Vancouver we get a lot of that in winter. I do feel more attracted to the brighter and sweeter blends(more virginias) during summer though, and more perique to go with it. But I'll still smoke...

Nic-Kick - What is it like?

Yes i would pick up some thing stronger to see what the nic kick is all about if you are curious. Irish flake is a nice one, strong but not over the top and an easy going flavour. Although that's a big price difference(still less than Canada). Don't be shy to set the pipe down if things get...

    Cob Pipe Attributes

Ol reliable. Even if the tobacco isn't dried to perfection or you're lighting up bowl after bowl, always a good smoke. That being said, Ive gotten better flavour with certain blends in my briars and meer occasionally, but it's not always the case. Lately I've been smoking cobs most of the time...

How Much do You Keep on Hand?

Wow some of you have alot stashed away! I order whole leaf so I have around 5-7lb on hand of various leaf(virginias, Kentucky, latakia, perique, orientals) then I'll reorder a few lbs every 6 months or so when I run out virginia and kentucky which get used the most in my blends.

***What Are You Smoking, March 2021?***

Well I have been growing for a bit few years, still waiting for past years crop to age a bit before it's smokable. The whole leaf blends(like this one) i make are all with tobacco from whole leaf tobacco.com though

***What Are You Smoking, March 2021?***

Whole leaf blend. Full english crumble cake. This one really hits the spot, covers all the bases. 30% latakia 20% red and bright stoved virginia 20% kentucky 15% perique 10% prelip and basma oriental 5% black stoved red virginia Breaking in a pride cob with this blend. I notice lots of people...

What Are the Most Fireproof Blends?

Dark and black stoved virginia will definitely burn slower but shouldn't be a problem if its dried enough. I've smoked some dense thick flakes of the black stoved virginia I've made, but it had to be dried crispy for a better smoke.

Looking for a Laid Back Virginia Blend

Sounds like capstan could scratch that itch for ya.
  15. F4RM3R

***What Are You Smoking, March 2021?***

Whole leaf black kentucky twist. Sprayed some Kentucky with black spiced rum, twisted up and stoved for about 14 hours until almost black. Smooth, cool and strong with a hint of vanilla and molasses from the rum. In a cob.

What Do You Do With The Dregs?

I sprinkle it on top of bowls, makes it easier to get a good light with coarser cuts.

    Matches vs. Lighters

Used to be a match guy, but switched over to lighters mostly as it's just easier to get a long gentle light in one go instead of using a few matches. Although I prefer the shape and direction of the flame with matches. I switched to an imco lighter, but got a cheap dupont knockoff cause i like...

Which Blends Have The Most Macedonian Tobacco

Well apparently presbytarian has them. I find the orientals in that blend do stand out as being unique compared to other blends.

    Calling Out All Balkan Fans

Bill baileys balkan by dan tobacco is great. Kind of closer to a full english with ample latakia, Kentucky and perique but a nice one nonetheless.

    Canadian Style Pro And Con

I had a canadian kriswill saga, was a nice pipe and light too. The button was too small for me, hard to clench. Even fell out of my mouth a couple times so I sold it.
