Oh ya, I do it all the time. Just that sometimes the pipe is left there too long, the ember was gone, then need to re-light. Somehow, I feel it looks more stylish to tamp with finger, look like a pro 😄- tklee

Better inexpensive pipe
In that case, it's better that you get a corn cob pipe, rather than getting those low cost pipes without any relevant information on what kind of wood it's made of. -

Nice! 👍 👍 👍 Asian culture is, I'm not sure whether it's the Asian culture or not, the kitchen rule is, "If you can't help with the cooking, at least help to clean the dishes.". My wife and I are always the ones cleaning the dishes, coz my mom and my brother can cook way better than us 😄- tklee
