If You Were Stranded On a Deserted Island With Only One Tobacco...

Today for me it would be Orlik Golden Sliced.

    Am I Smoking Too Much?

I am new to pipes, but so far three bowls has been my max for a day. I guess this is in part due to pipe smoking being something I stop everything to do. I might read or fly fish while smoking on occasion, but usually I just sit and think. So most days I don’t have time to have multiple bowls...

    Thank You

Yup me too. This forum has been amazing to me as a new piper!

No Fuss Blend - No Bite, Decent Flavor, Medium Nic, Nice Room Note...What Do You Recommend?

I agree SWRA is worthy of consideration in your criteria. I would say 1Q as well, but it may be too light in the taste and nic departments. I don’t have any real world experience yet to a new recent personal hit, Orlik Golden Sliced, but you could test the nic hit and social impact to see if...

What can I expect in England?

Thanks everyone. I figured it would be more expensive. (i.e. petrol/gasoline is about $6.00 a gallon and was even around $10 before the currency took a hit through Brexit) I will try to take over my favourite bulk (if I can decide before then) and maybe one or two premiums with me. (i.e. Orlik...

What can I expect in England?

I am moving to England in December and I wondered if any pipers on here could give me an idea of what to expect. How hard is it to get US tobaccos over there? What will I be able to get over there that is hard to get in the US? I'll go with small supply in my luggage of my current rotation...

Recommendations For First Excursion Into Virginias

@all - thanks for this treasure trove of intel! You've given me plenty to go on...! I don't have a good pipe tobacco shop in less than two hours drive, so I really appreciate this community!

Recommendations For First Excursion Into Virginias

Have tried some tobaccos in the aromatic and burley categories, and it is time for virginia. Any suggestions for a new piper?

    What's Your Favorite Bulk Aromatic?

^ ^ ^ ^ This! Still new to pipe smoking, but for bulk this is what I go back to without a doubt. BCA is pretty good on occasion as well!

    Please Advise On First Briar!

I have smoked five bowls so far, breaking it in with CH. I am really pleased with it. Seems to draw well and is light. Currently rotating it with the two cobs that I started smoking with. Life is good!

    A Trip To Houston

I was just in there last week. Nice people. I think they are the main gig in town.

    Please Advise On First Briar!

@all - A huge shout out for all the awesome advice from all of you in the pipes magazine community. This is one of the first of a number of briars I am sure I am going to buy. Savinelli, Stanwell, Nording, etc. will surely be considerations for building up for a rotation.

    Does Size Matter?

A huge thanks for the pipes magazine community for all the advice. Very, very helpful... particularly because I don't know that many pipe smokers and our nearest true pipe shop is a couple hours drive away.

    Please Advise On First Briar!

It's interesting you said this @didmauw ... in the end, I went with this Rossi. My reasons were simple... I find with my cobs that I am still more consistent at getting a good pack with smaller bowls. Don't know why, but until I develop my skill a bit more, that's my instinct. Also, I did not...

@ray47 - What would you term as 'medium'? Sorry, noob question! :)

    Does Size Matter?

As you know from another thread I am on the search for my first briar. I think I prefer a straight stem and acrylic. Probably a billiard or apple shape. I think I lean towards a smooth finish, but am starting to take a liking to the rustic look as well. Choices, choices, choices! The big...
