Fuente Opus X Angel's Share Cigars- worth the money?

They are well worth it. Get one if you can find one. +1 on the Anejo as well.

Some Snapshots of my Pipe Room

Foggy, that is beautiful! Skapunk, nice Eddie art!

    Give a Man Enough Rope....

I agree with the recommendations for the Coconut twist. I like almost all of the ropes I've had, but that one is a good starter as far as the nicotine kick.

    Cool Old Tool

That is pretty dang cool. I think I understand how it works, let us know what you think of it after you use it. Thanks for sharing.

Visiting New Orleans, What To Do?

Make sure to check out Frenchman Street. It's far less touristy than Bourbon street. Eating and drinking is more fun in NoLa, for some reason. My favorite place for breakfast was Petunia's, but they have closed. I have read that Oceana is now doing Petunia's breakfast, but I haven't had it there...

    Best Cherry Tobacco

I've only tried a few cherry flavored tobaccos but the only one I have liked was Gawith & Hoggarth Top Black Cherry. It tasted like cherry, not like the chemical "cherry" often found.

Why We Like What We Like

I agree with toby67, the first thing that draws me to certain pipes and away from others is their appearance. I collect a large variety of art, but pipes are by far my favorite. The second feature (when initially purchasing a pipe) is how it feels in the hand; shape, weight, texture, etc. The...

Why so cheap, 1980s Dunhill ?

@mso489 The inflation rate (according to the US inflation calculator) makes that $35 from 1967 into $247.46, in current money. That's about the price one pays for a '67 Dunhill in good shape nowadays and about 1/3 of the price for a new one. All we need is a time machine.

What got you into pipe smoking?

This is a snakeskin jacket Dunhill pipe! And for me it's a symbol of my individuality, and my belief in personal freedom.

    THE FRANK METHOD

I honestly have no idea how my tobacco gets into my pipe 9/10 times. I know this sounds strange, but I rarely give it any attention as I'm usually in a conversation when filling/lighting my pipe. It always seems to work out just fine, though.

    Does anyone "process" their tobacco

I use a cheap coffee grinder (the bladed kind, solely used for tobacco) for my rope bits when I'm too lazy to do it by hand. I would really like to try one of those Ulu knives with the cupped cutting board, I'll bet that would be perfect.

    Dunhill pipe opinion please.

I agree with layinpipe; I wouldn't pay half of the asking price for a new Dunhill when the pre-70's, hand made pipes can be picked up for SO much less.

    Dunhill pipe opinion please.

All six of my Dunhills smoke beautifully. In my experience, money is there to be spent on things that we enjoy. If you save all of your money and get hit by a train, You died without ever owning the pipe you've always wanted. And the person who inherits your money might spend the $400 on some...

Nic Hits and UPS - A Mini Story

Quickly! Order some tire spikes, wait a day and order some tobacco (shipped UPS), follow the tracking of the tobacco and be ready with the spikes in the driveway. I always find that it is easier to chat up the ladies when not pushed for time. You will either thank me later or curse my name.

    I damaged my new pipe

That's horrible. It's never happened to me yet (most of my pipes are estate, so the imperfections would have been found by the previous owner) but I've heard of it a time or two. I would definitely send it back after contacting smokingpipes. I have heard of the manufacturers being a bit snooty...

Great Little Missiouri Meerschaum Factory Highlight

Great video. Thanks for sharing. I now feel the need to expand my cob selection, again.

    is regular wood stain ok?

I agree, leather dye is the only thing I would use. Fiebing's is relatively inexpensive and they make a large variety of colors to experiment with. I'm sure there are other brands out there, but I only have experience with Fiebing's and their product has worked well for the small amount of...

    How to avoid rim darkening?

I agree with Clark; leave a little room at the top of your bowl, don't pack it completely full and it shouldn't darken so much. Otherwise, you could just get black stained pipes so you don't see the effects.

Tongue and Lip Bite .... Again

The one trick I have learned to prevent tongue bight is the constant avoidance of Mac Baren products.
