    The way I smoke my straight billiards, the smoke hits the roof of my mouth. I've never gotten tongue bite, but get roof rash occasionally. The plip is no different for me in that aspect. But it definetly hits the roof of my mouth haha.

    I prefer pipes shorter. But they have to look right in the process. So i agree on the look of that pipe. Short stem isn't doing it for it.

    Just arrived today. The silver is.....not tarnished, but.....scorched? I'm not really sure. I don't mind the look honestly. It's brand new unsmoked. Drilled perfectly. Are the stems hand finished, or hand cut? My most beautiful pipe yet.

    I have had no issues with or without cake. However depending on the blend and how dry it is could be a factor. Dry tobacco is imo not only better for flavor and smokeability, but makes a nicer harder cake as well. Moist aromatics tobaccos, (Carter hall is really my only example and only blend...

    Carter Hall was my first blend that helped me realize smoking a pipe could actually be done. It packed and smoked so carelessly. That's what I wanted in life. Now I dry all of my tobaccos well ahead of packing. So it all just falls right into the pipe now. No fuss.
