    Amphora

Amphora has been around for over 50yrs. It was my first pipe tobacco snd I started smoking it in 1957 because I liked the taste and smell and I could keep the stuff lit. Remember how tough it was as a "new" pape smoker to actually smoke a pipe without using an entire box of matches? I know, I...

    Trying New Stuff

Thanks for all the suggestions. I think I have enough to run trials for quite awhile. Some, like "Escuedo", I have smoked before. It is a good one. I have ordered some others based on ya'lls recommendations. Thanks again.

Looking for a New Pipe Lighter-Vertigo or Colibri?

I use the best pipe lighter you can buy. The brand name is "Diamond" and it is called a match.

    A pipe with my dad,

That is great! You will remember it always. My Dad was a fireman and I remember sitting with him while on duty one Christmas Eve smoking our pipes. He smoked Kaywoodies and used Granger and Edgeworth tobaccos. Course that was a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away.

    How many blends with Latakia?

Too many. It is hard to avoid it. It stays in a pipe forever and you can taste it every time you smoke. Ugh.

    Trying New Stuff

OK, I ordered according to the recommendations, but I could not find those recommended by "pawpaw". Who makes "Hal o The Wynd" and "cumberland"? Thanks.

    Texas Tax

I just ordered a can of tobacco from a place in San Marcos, TX that cost $32 and they charged me over $16 in Texas tobacco tax. Jeeze Louisez!

    Trying New Stuff

I have decided, in my dotage, to try some new (to me anyway) tobacco. I need some recommendations. I like a "natural" flavor. I can't stand latakia in any form. I want something with cavendish, burly, perique, etc preferably in a "rough cut", but will try other cuts if needed. I have ordered...

Yeah Bob! As you can see it worked. Not pretty, but OK for an old guy. Thanx.

    The Pipe

WOW! Thanks for the site. I never realized there were so many shapes and colors. Was not aware of the "venturi" pipe either. Of course back when I bought my original pipes I was buying them as offered locally where ever I was. There was no Internet and I was not aware of "collectors" per...

How I Write My Tobacco Reviews

Your reviews are excellent, but must agree with "dunendain" above. I have always had a hard time with wine reviews and tobacco reviews. Maybe my tastes are pedistrian, but I know what I like. The reviews "Trial by Fire" in PIPES AND TOBACCO MAG drive me crazy. I reckon I'm just an uncouth...

    The Pipe

I suppose all is relative. I found mine cool and dry. They were easy to clean and required no cake. I'm sorry I misplaced mine over the years. I guess they were "fad" pipes in the same category as pipes with metal stems and "screw-in" bowls, meerschaum linings, filters, cherry wood, and the...

    Trying to Identify Pipes

As to the Comoy company-they are still producing pipes and there a dozen of the on "e-bay" right now.

    The Pipe

I am looking for information about a pipe made by VENTURI called "The Pipe". They were made during the late 60"s and early 70"s from a graphite material used in the nose-cones of missiles. "The Pipe" came in the standard shapes of billiard, pot, bulldog, and half-bent and colors of black...

    Favorite Movie Starring the Duke?

Actually, even though he made great westerns, my favorite John Wayne movie is "The Quiet Man". It was made in Ireland and co-starred Maureen O'Hara and Victor McLaughlin.

Will no smoking in cars be next?

I have no doubt that a ban on smoking in cars is coming and it may be a Federal law that will have to be complied with by all states if they wish to receive Federal highway funds (blackmail as usual). The Texas legislature has just instituted a "smoking differentail" that all Texas government...
