Anyone ever seen one of these?

I bought a couple of the metal (tin I think) ones from "Duluth Trading Company" catalog. I assume they still have them on their web site as well.

    Show Yo Face!

What you see is what I am. I grew up in a "black and white" world.

List the 3 Things You Would Like to Have

A log cabin in the woods, a good German shepard, and my pipes/tobacco. Greed insists that I need 4 items--some good books as well. I guess I could have said monetary wealth and bought all those other things myself.

New Dresden Novel hitting stores 11/27/2012

Butcher's books are great. Kinda like "Lord of the Rings" sans Hobbits. Harry Dresden, the wizard, is a very entertaining lead character. I read most of this series when they were published, but am now re-reading them on my Kindle. More the "fantasy" genre than "science fiction."

    English

One of the advertisers on this forum offers some really great English blends. Good descriptions of what you are getting. Go to www.pipes2smoke.com.

    New 5 pipe rack

The best looking pipe racks/cabinets I have ever seen are on www.twocousinspiperacks.com. I want one so bad I can taste it. They are all hand-made by these two guys.

    Great Pipe Racks

Maybe I'm the last to know, but I ran across some of the neatest hand-made pipe racks I have ever seen. I'm trying hard to deny myself one. If interested go to www.twocousinspiperacks.com.

    Meerschaum Rememberance

It seems that meerschaum pipes are making a comeback. I remember when I first began smoking a pipe in 1959 thst Meerschaums were very expensive. They were generally rare amoung my friends. Back then most meers had amber stems and were usually the guy in the turban in a bent form. You almost...

My only beef with Cup O' Joes

I've ordered "accessories" from COJs, but not tobacco. Never had a problem. I don't like the pricing ploy, but just about everybody does it. The best site I have found for estate pipes is BriarBlues (www.briarblues.com). He does not sell tobacco, but his prices are reasonable and the pipes I...

    Thompson Meerschaum

Just purchased an estate pipe off Ebay. It is listed as a "Thompson Block Meershaum" from England. It has an unusual shape and is pre-smoked like the Van Cleef. Anybody ever hear of Thompson? I haven't. However it only cost me $25 including shipping.

    Very strange Kaywoodie on ebay

Jeez. Kaywoodie would never have its name associated with that thing. Maybe Kaywoodie should be informed.

    What was your first car?

I was a "sophomore" in high school and my first car was a used 1948 Ford two-door. Shortly after I traded for a 1948 Studebaker (what?). No pics however. That was before cameras.

    Dunhill pipe opinion please.

Dunhills are great smokes and, if you are interested, there are some beautiful Dunhills (estate pipes only) at www.briarblues.com. They typically go for around $250.

    "Irish Pub"

Choch, I think that is the one. I never heard of "Fader". Any idea of which tobbaconists sell that brand? Thanks for the info.

List Your Other Hobbies / Interests

I am an avid woodcarver and scrowlsawyer. I also do pictures in wood. I also read a lot. Even more since I purchased a "Kindle". I play chess, but I'm not good at it. I listen to my CD collection, and finally, I build plastic scale-model airplanes.

Anyone else collect and/or listen to vinyl records?

I have several stacks of vinyl records from the 50's and 60's. I would be willing to put together a list in response to a private messge. I would be most happy to sell these to a deserving collector.

    "Irish Pub"

For a couple years I smoked a bulk tobacco called "Irish Pub". It was sold by a tobaconist franchise called "Tobacco Isle". The store has since gone out of business and I was wondering if you folks might have hard of, or know where you can get "Irish Pub" tobacco. It was cut in a cigarette...

2019: The Year All Tobacco Will be Permanently Banned

Remember Elliot Ness and "The Untouchables?" Prohibition (of booze) didn't work because people wanted alcohol. Banning tobacco won't work either. The day they ban pipe tobacco is the day I become an outlaw. I taught economics for 18 years and I can tell you that "supply and demand" runs the...

    Most Recognized Pipe Smoker?

jpberg-I saw an article in "Pipes and Tobacco" magazine showing Ford wearing a dressing gown (robe), holding his pipe and there was a pouch of Carter Hall in the picture. It was mentioned in the article as well. That doesn' mean, of course, that he did not also smoke Field and Stream. Knowing...

    Am I Crazy

Old Cajun, I like your ideas. How about wearing a sporran like the Scots wear with their Kilts. That is the little bag that hangs in front of the crotch. Looks kinda like a tobacco pouch.
