    How Clean is your Pipe?

I think you are mistaken. The other post was about charred/burnt rims, which is a different subject.

    How Clean is your Pipe?

Apart from rimming the cake, I don´t clean my pipes, ever.

Is it even possible to not get any tongue bite at all?

I think it is rather how moist your tobacco is and not so more the blend. I quite agree with Robin on this. This is what he said:

Robin: I think you are right on the money.

Is it even possible to not get any tongue bite at all?

I always follow the two-step guide to not suffering from any tongue bite Step 1: open your tin Step 2: let it dry

    How to Avoid Tongue Bite

One thing is the manufacture of tobacco, but a different issue is when you smoke it (at this point in time, tobacco should be let do dry a bit).

    How to Avoid Tongue Bite

Thanks. I have noticed that, in most cases, if you challenge what people believe or do, they will take offence. I think this forum should be a place where people can share opinions and ideas about tobacco in a constructive way. I used to have those too long time ago, but I have grown out of it...

Great online article: How To Get a Cool, Dry, Smoke by Eric Whitaker

It is not supposed to crumble. The idea is you pinch it, and if it does not clump together, then it is ready to smoke. I am not saying too dry, but just dry enough. I always leave my tins open to dry for a couple of days before I even smoke any tobacco.

My One Issue with Ebay is...

Look up this seller "bobus010." This guy is spot on. After he sold me a pipe I did not like in the end, he refunded my money even before I posted his pipe and, upon delivery, he also refunded all delivery charges.

    Goldilocks???

Also, moist tobacco always smokes hotter, and this is what causing tongue bite. Please do note that in order for you to keep moist tobacco lit in your bowl you will have to puff/draw harder, and this is quite aggressive for the tongue.

Great online article: How To Get a Cool, Dry, Smoke by Eric Whitaker

So dry tobaccos will smoke hotter than properly humidified ones? Really? Well, this is simply not true. If you want to avoid 1 tongue bite and 2 smoking hot just let your tobacco dry properly.

I don't mean any disrespect, but I don't see any use for those.

    How to Avoid Tongue Bite

I know, I know. There is this misconception amongst pipe smokers that moist tobacco will smoke better than dry ones, but it is rather the contrary. They even sell those stones you stick in your tin to hydrate your tobacco, which I find awful. I guess this is all based on cigars assumptions, but...

    How dry is too dry?

Dry tobacco will smoke great whereas moist tobacco will bite your tongue and burn hot in your bowl.

    Goldilocks???

I quite agree with you in your appreciation. I believe there is this misconception amongst most pipes smokers that tobacco should be rather moist to prevent your tobacco from both biting your tongue and burning hot in your bowl, but it is rather the contrary. When I was in my early 20s I used to...

    Young(er) Pipe Smokers

I am a young fella of 46 years old of age and I had my first pipe before I was 18. I am glad to see this hobby is not dying out in the end.

    I FINALLY Got A Job!!!

RE your back, a piece of advice I can give you is "don't bend over" to pick up stuff (boxes, rubbish, a tyre, etc.). Just bend your knees and keep your back straight as you perform this task. This will help you to keep your balance right and will release your back from unnecessary stress.

    Goldilocks???

According to the dictionary the term "goldilocks" denotes or refer to something which the most desirable or advantageous part of a range of values or conditions, that is, something which is not prone to extremes of temperature volatility. Hence, a planet which is in a goldilocks zone, is in a...
