    Sweetest English Blend?

    Try Piccadilly from GLP.

    Pipe Rotation and Blend Advice/Recommendations?

I'd smoke them separate. I think one will be aromatic and the other more like tobacco. I wouldn't want to mix them myself. I would try some straight Virginia flake next. CD opening night is my new available fav since losing my two favs 507c and newminster 400. Those last two are still available...

    Suggestios Please....

Not knowing the budget I would recommend a Peterson 264. An Irish Harp style would be further my style recommendation. First tobacco would be a Straight Virginia. I would have recommended Sutliff 507c or Newminster 400 which are my stockpiled favs but in the case of availability try CD Opening...

    Folklore 2025

This is a great idea for SP. They would know how much to make and can get handle on the volume and everyone gets some. Even easier would be to preorder during say a week maybe 2 years prior and then they know how much to make. Leaving customers hungry isn't good for business. For me Folklore was...

How to Smoke a Full Bowl Without Altering the Taste?

The last little part is for the pipe spirit. The angels cut. You never smoke it. You just dump it. Never smoke to the very bottom. Personally my pack ends up leaving a small air pocket at the bottom which prevents much of this.

    Retrohaling, Inhaling, and Definitions

To me retrohale is blowing smoke out your nose - either all or some. Inhaling can be mouth or nose first. Nose creates a vacuum and draw smoke from a pipe with closed lips around the stem. Mouth is like using a straw. You can half use mouth and half open lip to reduce the draw and make it...

How Much Cellar Tobacco is Too Much?......or Is It?

Last count I think I've stashed may 40 or 45 lbs give or take. Hard to keep track. I will stop buying large quantities around 75 or so pounds and only the occasional new blend if it sounds unique enough. Figure 75 lbs should last 25 years on its own and if buy a bit here and there over those...

    Where to Go Next?

Before the purge I would have suggested Newminster 400 and Sutliff Virginia Slices. The PS 400 and PS 403 are the only other ones. You might try Watch City Flake 558 and Old Dominion. Might also try Stokkebye Evening Flake too. Ps..I'll add that Peretti flake is excellent their Ampersand...

Do different pipe shapes work well, or not so well, with different tobaccos?

From my perspective Ive come to appreciate the narrow bowl for VA under .8 and wide for Latakia and Burley blends above .8. and everything else no difference.

Pipe Tobacco is no Good Anymore/Better Than Before

To me it's all up to the producer. Tobacco plants gain soil enrichment. So like anything else the soil over time has gotten depleted. Would that affect taste more than say the rainfall and climate of the growing season? I'm thinking like grapes. You have good years and better years. That really...

    Out of Pipe Cleaners

Bottle brush. Keep some really skinny ones around because they can really clean out a tube well. I use one occasionally to ensure a sweet pipe. P.s. It's the kind you use to the clean those stainless straws.

Been Smoking for a While, First Meerschuam Pipe, any Tips

By soaking wet I mean don't douse it in a bucket of water. I use grain alcohol to clean out meers. After any smoke the bottom will be softer and easier to gouge so just be careful. Wet meer is always softer than dry. It's not a problem just be aware. There is always an edge case exception to...

Been Smoking for a While, First Meerschuam Pipe, any Tips

Fantastic pipe!!! More important is what not to do. Don't get it soaking wet it's not wood and will get soft until dry again. Don't drop it. It will shatter. Don't scrape inside or ream it. Don't try to build up a cake. Don't worry if it turns darker colors. It's supposed to.

    Try it again...

Very good advice. Over the years I've saved blends for revisiting and found this to be true. Plus tastes change.

Is this Dunhill Shell Briar Pot a fake?

No one goes through that much effort to forge a complete pipe. You'd know it for sure if someone did. I've seen misidentification of pipes people sell on eBay such as a Kaywoodie but it's really a Dr. Grabow or one that's so called never smoked, or getting the year of manufacture wrong. The...

Does Slow and Steady Win the Race for Rehydrating Old Blends.

I've rehydrated tobacco dust with a pre sanitized very fine mist pump spray bottle of distilled water. This hand held sprayer is one of those that keeps spraying for a few seconds after you stop squeezing. Spray very lightly from height of about 3 to 4 feet. Then seal up in air tight container...
