Bowl size: maximum ⌀ 0.70″. Recommendations?

Thanks for the tips. I do not smoke unfiltered pipes, so it makes it harder I guess. And I do check smokingpipes every now and then but have not found anything yet. Getting a corn cub is difficult where I live, the one's they sell here in Sweden is crap. But might get one next time I order a...

Bowl size: maximum ⌀ 0.70″. Recommendations?

Cool, unfortunaterly I don't smoke unfiltered pipes.

Bowl size: maximum ⌀ 0.70″. Recommendations?

I am looking for a pipe with a smaller bowl diameter. Maximum size: 1.8 cm, or 0.7″. The depth of the bowl is less strict, but say about 1.2″ - 1.7″. Not too small. If anyone has some recommendations of specific pipes (or pipe series) that qualifies for this preference I would be glad. No...

    Chamber: what and why?

Not sure. The opera seems to be oval not down in the chamber (as picture above) but oval "from above". If that makes sense (image google and you see what I mean). :)

    Chamber: what and why?

Yes, it could be result of reasons mentioned above. But if it is a manufactured shape, it might have been tested and proved not to function very well, who knows. But that's a thing about buying estate pipes on ebay. Pictures does not reveal something like this. But I had some super good pipes...

    Chamber: what and why?

Well, at least it is more difficult to char to get an even burn (unless perhaps you pack it all the way up, which I have not done yet bcs it fills a lot of tobacco). A bit too early for me to make a final judgment at this point. But I can tell it does not work well with flake fold and stuff. And...

    Chamber: what and why?

So this shape on your picture... Does it exist as a shape we know about, or did you make the picture yourself just for sake of discussion? :)

    Chamber: what and why?

Ok, interesting, well that's seems plausible too.

    Chamber: what and why?

But just to clarify, what I have in mind in this thread is not necessarily this oval type of shape. My other example is actually not so oval and more straight than curved. But the general principle I am after here is a chamber where the top is less wide in diameter than the middle, or bottom...

    Chamber: what and why?

Yes! I was looking for a picture myself, but could not find any. Thanks! Good to know what we are talking about.

    Chamber: what and why?

I actually have one more estate pipe with the same type of chamber. Another pipe that has been reamed down too aggressively perhaps? :)

    Chamber: what and why?

Ok, you think? There is actually no extra layer of cake at the top. Just seems so strange that someone would make that shape reaming the pipe. Seems even difficult to manage to do so, unless you really intend to for some reason. But for all I known you could be right. So this shape does not...

    Chamber: what and why?

I'm breaking in a new estate pipe. A Vauen Luxus, straight apple. But I'm curious about the chamber, since it is slightly oval in its shape, a bit like an egg. Which makes the diameter less at the top and larger in the middle of the bowl. Could someone tell me what this type of chamber is called...

    Drying Tobacco- One Method

Just adding my method when ending up with too dry tobaccos for whatever reason (an inverted but related topic nevertheless). Sometimes it has happend due to a jar not functioning properly, and up to a year later I've found the tobacco to be bone dry. And to be honest, I have sometimes opened a...

    Savinelli Pipes and VA?

Thank you for drawing my attention to Bing's Favorite! I actually decided to go for that one instead of the 315. Narrow bowl, and a bit deeper chamber, long stem, just seems perfect. I could not find it in Europe, so now I'm waiting for the pipe to arrive from the US. Looking forward to break it...

    Savinelli Pipes and VA?

I'm struggling too with the notion that a whole brand would be better with some types of tobacco, or more prone to smoke better with some. But I was interested if someone would be able to relate to my own experience with a Savinelli that simply refused to work well with Va. And my memory was...

    Savinelli Pipes and VA?

I am hoping to find a prince shaped pipe that I can dedicate to pure virginias. I am very tempted to buy a new Savinelli 315. What is your experience of smoking pure virginia in Savinelli pipes? The reason I am asking is because I recently bought a Savinelli authograph 6 estate pipe (my most...

Does a Wider Bowl Smoke Hotter?

Perhaps so. But granted that the answer to the question is no, based on experience, the explanation is perhaps less straight forward. It seems to me that a broader ember dissipates the heat faster out from the bowl, or at least more heat (not sure about the faster aspect). But does this has...

Does a Wider Bowl Smoke Hotter?

That's a beautiful pipe, I really like the long stem with a little curve to it. And I fully agree, it is all a habit, an aquired art of doing, as life in general. And the secret of habits is that they hide all the efforts made in life, it is a forgetting, just like the breathing of the soul is...

Does a Wider Bowl Smoke Hotter?

Yes, I will surely try this 👍
