Does a Wider Bowl Smoke Hotter?

That's interesting. With pipes, however, I reckon this observation suggests that you don't need to draw as much in a pipe with less diameter to get the same burning effect (the same flare). Because in a pipe what matters is the burning effect you produce by the draw. So, not sure if this...

Does a Wider Bowl Smoke Hotter?

I normally don't smoke aromatics, but recently I have come to appreciate Sweet Vanilla Honeydew as a nice evening smoke. When I smoke it in my normal size pipe, it smokes cool, no issue. But in the evening I want my smoke to last longer, so I'm grabbing for a pipe with larger bowl and chamber. I...

Does a Wider Bowl Smoke Hotter?

I guess some of us where born fully accomplished pipe smokers with no experience whatsoever of tounge bite to be learned from 😂

Does a Wider Bowl Smoke Hotter?

Pardon me english: I'm speaking of the chamber. I'm not very invested in my theory, not sure I'm convinced myself, just curious. Of course it is a number of factors at play here (the quality or mechanics of the pipe can probably be added to the list), I was just curious if wider chamber could...

Does a Wider Bowl Smoke Hotter?

I'm pondering which type of bowl that is best suited for smoking aromatic blends. As we all know, aromatics have a tendency to smoke a bit hot, and this got me thinking about the width of the bowl, and how it might affect the temperature of the smoke. It seems to me that more air needs to be...

The Sweetest Virginia (Flake) You've Had?

I will likely order a lot of the 400 from the US, even if it will end up cost me a fortune with all the punitive taxes added.

The Downside of a Zippo, or Beginner's Mistake?

For anyone finding this thread with the same issue. I can just confirm that adjusting the wick actually did the trick for me 👍 Thanks for a helpful thread 🙏

The Sweetest Virginia (Flake) You've Had?

Took a little time bcs could not smoke for a while, but I’ve now tried McConnell Red Virginia and Orlik Golden Slice, so I thought I would come back to this thread with my thoughts. In the category I’m looking for here, these will not be on the top of my list. For my palate, MRV is just a bit...

The Downside of a Zippo, or Beginner's Mistake?

I think a too short wick on my zippo might have been what caused the problem for me. After readjusting it the flame has better reach. But I'm temporarly off the pipe because I'm recovering from a cold, so I will have to try it later. :)

The Sweetest Virginia (Flake) You've Had?

Kudos to AJL67 for his gift of tobaccos! Took some time, but the package finally arrived with a bunch of samples of stuff that I cannot get where I live. Never expected this generosity. And could not wait to try Newminster No. 400. Fully agree, it is a wonderful tobacco. Thank you Adam - very...

The Downside of a Zippo, or Beginner's Mistake?

Yes, that is arguably another downside with zippo, it is difficult to control the flame to produce an even burn. But the zippo fans will probably insist this is more a matter of tamping than lighting, no? But still, you can only tamp once the tobacco has burnt, so spreading the flame evenly...

The Downside of a Zippo, or Beginner's Mistake?

Some good advice already! I do like the feel of the zippo, so will practice some more to learn the proper technique. :col:

The Downside of a Zippo, or Beginner's Mistake?

I have a zippo pipe lighter laying around that I have not used that much because, for me at least, I think there is a problematic downside to it. At the beginning of the bowl, there is no problems using it. But from mid to end of the bowl, especially if it is a larger and wider bowl-size, I find...

    Online US Tobacconists

Interesting, I'm still trying to figure out exactly how it works in my country. But here in Sweden they probably use the extra taxes they collect from imposing a solid system of checking each and every package to pay salaries for all the extra work it entails, :ROFLMAO:

    Online US Tobacconists

Haha, that is hilarious to read... don't know whether to cry or to laugh about it, or actually I laughed. Never seen such an annoyed disclaimer written for customers. You can sense the frustration built up for too long to the point of disgust, and then this guy sat down and spilled it out in...

    Online US Tobacconists

I see, 50% is still very much to your advantage I would say. But does'nt smokingpipes fill in some form about the content when shipping to Canada? I have not tried yet, but from what I can gather, this seems to be how it works in my country at least. And if the content is stated as tobacco it...
