    Sake

Heh, answered my question while I was posting it. Though I disagree with the premise a bit. I don't notice I can taste more nuances in iced coffee or tea. I actually feel like I get the most when it's warm, but not hot.

    Sake

Yeah, I have to stay away from the sauce myself, but I am also very curious about the stuff. San Diego has a pretty decent sized Japanese population, and there are a number of casual Japanese bars/restaurants, including one dedicated to baseball. I'd go just for the food, but I know I'd probably...

    Chinese Meal

One of the bummers about moving to a new place and not knowing a ton of people is not having friends to eat with. Chinese food especially, I think, goes well with a group because it's best eaten family style. I know there has to be a ton of great Chinese restaurants here in San Diego, but I just...

    Carolina Red Flake 2024

It's interesting to note that that Jim has stated here and in his review that this version tastes a bit less sugary that prior versions, but this one has Virginias with higher sugar content per C&D. I'm wondering if judging by peer sugar content might not be the best way of determining how sweet...

Jim's C&D Carolina Red Flake 2024 (Small Batch) Review.

Great review, per usual. I bought a tin, and am hoping I enjoy it as much as the last version I had (2019, maybe). I am glad C&D came through with a pretty hefty amount of tins with this release, so I should have an opportunity to buy another tin or two if I like it.

What Cigar Are You Smoking? 2025

Speaking of Cameroon leaf being used as a binder, AFJ Enclave Churchill with the last of my "Pink Champagne" Colombian coffee from Dark Horse.

What Cigar Are You Smoking? 2025

Oliva still says it's African Cameroon, but they're also not always the most out front with their blends either. It's already happening with La Aurora (Ecuadorian Cameroon and quite enjoyable on the 5er I tried). Aladino and the Eiroas are growing it in Honduras, and the Aladino Cameroon is a...

What Cigar Are You Smoking? 2025

Cameroon usually has more of an off color, like greenish-gray if that helps. The Serie O is like a straight Colorado brown, IMO.

What Cigar Are You Smoking? 2025

When I was in Mexico City a while back I bought one of the Hoyo LCdH Exclusives, the big churchill/DC sized one for like $60. I also bought a PLMC for like $11. Wanna guess which one was the better smoke? I just keep praying the number crunchers at Habanos SA keep forgetting they're...

    My Frst Brand New Briar.

I have a cheap ass Rossi in the same shape. It smokes Latakia blends as well as any other pipe I own. I do have some trouble passing a cleaner, but since I use water flush method, I just pull out the stem once the piple has thoroughly cooled from the water before turning up the temperature and...

    Pete Rose Dead at 83

Yeah... The thing with Pete Rose is, I never saw him play, so I have no nostalgia for the player. I was just familiar with the man, which was... lacking. First, he lied for years about gambling about baseball. At a certain point, Bud Selig even threw him a lifeline at the urging of guys like...

Show off Your Ropp Pipes here!

That last pipe is stunning. I think that if we didn't know the Ropp Vintage backstory, it could go for much more than what they actually cost!

Show off Your Ropp Pipes here!

I misplaced my Ropp Vintage Stout Zulu. Such a wonderful pipe, and downright cheap for how great it is. And for such a nice, petite size, it had a very generous bowl. I sure hope it turns up, or I might, you know, have to buy another

    Seriously? Rustication Gone Awry?

    And maybe eat it, too!

    Seriously? Rustication Gone Awry?

I do prefer this version to the pineapple style. It is actually a pretty good looking pipe overall, even if I prefer more of an Italian style rustication (I love Radice's Rind) . The army/spigot mounts are one of my favorite things about Peterson Pipes, both in form and function, and that stem...

    Seriously? Rustication Gone Awry?

I like Peterson Pipes, but have never been a huge fan of their rustication styles. Been enjoying the descriptions (pineapple, butter knife, etc.)

    My Frst Brand New Briar.

I don't notice anything off about it in the photos. I think many/most pipes are slightly wonky in some places when closely examined. I think it is a very fine looking pipe, and 2 of my all-time favorite pipes have been unfinished Savinelli Series IIIs.

    Dark Fired Kentucky

I think it's different enough that it is at least worth a try. Latakia's smokiness is more herbal and incense like. DFK is more like a BBQ smokiness. As for what to try, you could jump into the deep end with something like HH Bold Kentucky. But I'd suggest GL Pease's JackKnife Plug if you like...

Why I Never Drank Port Before.

Yeah, good port is nice, but I had the same beliefs. Similar to sherry. Old timey drinks. A trip to Spain cured my sherry-phobia, and a family friend who brought some port from a local winery to the house years ago, converted me to port.

    Anyone Play Video Games?

This made me laugh so hard... I'll have to give it a try. For a few years, there was a guy using create a player to simulate all the minor league players and prospects for MLB The Show, but I think he stopped. They were stunningly accurate. Now that the minor leaguers have a union, I'd hope MLB...
