What Cigar Are You Smoking? 2025

Eiroa Jamastran Robusto. So far, this has been excellent. It really has that Aladino, Honduran puro flavor profile going, which always reminds me a bit of Cuban Partagas. A bit pricey given its similarity to the relative bargain of an Aladino, but it's been a real pleasure to smoke.

    California is Scary

Honestly, the more I've learned about the issue, the more dedicated I've become to the idea that most pet cats should be indoor only. For their own safety, and for the safety of the environment around them. They kill so many small animals that they're wreaking havoc on the native species...

***What Are You Smoking, Nov. 2024?***

HU Makhuwa in a Stanwell billiard. Another fine blend from HU. There's a sweetness from what I assume is a light topping, which gives this blend a really nice balance. For fans of burley, this one is a winner.

HU Director's Cut in a Johs bent billiard. I really like this blend.

    Bulleit Bourbon/Rye Gripe.

I thought the trend in wine and liquor (especially wine) was to move away from corks to screw-caps? I have occasionally noticed issues with loose corks, but I don't drink much Bulleit to know. My go-to rye is the Wild Turkey 101, or sometimes the Rittenhouse.

Update on the STG Closure Of Sutliff and Mac Baren

Well, hopefully the HH Line is safe. Those tend to be my favorite MacB blends, which is not to say they don't make some other bangers. It's a bit of a shame that the tobaccos used in pipe blends are so different than the black tobaccos used in cigar making, because STG Cigars just keeps...

    California is Scary

Like Sable, I'd see the occasional coyote when I lived in Eastern San Diego County, and the sight of one or two was never very intimidating. They're not that big, and very skittish around humans. But at night, I could hear them pack up and attack animals in the area, and they weren't nearly as...

***What Are You Smoking, Nov. 2024?***

How is the Makhuwa? I have a tin coming in the mail, and it sounds really appealing to me.4 Now smoking Drucquer & Sons Blairgowrie in a Peterson Standard 307. For some reason, I thought this would be a milder blend, like a lighter English. It most certainly is not. It IS very well-balanced...

***What Are You Smoking, Nov. 2024?***

HU Night Owl in a Stanwell brushed pot. This is a nice tobacco. So far, the HU tobaccos I've tried haven't been earth-shattering, but they've all been quite good, and taste like they've had little, if any, added flavorings.. Almost like C&D or GLP blends if they were made in Europe with the...

    California is Scary

Mountain Lions are badass, and unfortunately, they are notorious for finding themselves in urban and suburban areas where they can pose a danger. Sadly, I think they are responsible for a few fatal attacks each year, though of course human beings and domestic dogs tend to be the most dangerous...

What Cigar Are You Smoking? 2025

Trinidad (Nicaragua) Espiritu No. 1. This has been a really nice smoke.

What Cigar Are You Smoking? 2025

Nice! I've been curious about that one, because I'm always interested in good, affordable cigars. Seems like the Tabacos Baez line has been around a long time, but I've never had it. I've been curious about the New Cuba line from Aganorsa as well

What Cigar Are You Smoking? 2025

Espinosa Las 6 Provincias ZDT Short Churchill. Quite a mouth full. Literally. Enjoying it a lot so far

***What Are You Smoking, Nov. 2024?***

HU Fayyum in a Peterson Standard 307. Weird blend in terms of components, but I suppose they mostly function to keep the 65%(!) Latakia content from being too much. It works! Maybe it is the fire-cured VA and KY tobaccos simulating some of the spice effects normally provided by Orientals in...

***What Are You Smoking, Nov. 2024?***

"I feel no remorse. It's a terrible thing." An all-time full Walken performance. Bad Lieutenant is probably the better film, but King of New York is far more fun to watch. Finally getting around to trying Pease's Drucquer & Sons Blairgowrie in a Johs bent egg. So far, the main quality I can...

***What Are You Smoking, Nov. 2024?***

Since apparently HU tobaccos are available here in the USA, I jumped in for 4 tins at my local B&M. Even if they were even available online, surely they'd be sold out. Well, $204 later, and I see Smoking Pipes has quite a few of them. Well, I was able to get a tin each of Director's Cut and...

    English Fatigue?

Yeah, and you have the right idea. I like to switch genres, and also mix in cigars to keep the flavors popping. I think Latakia is especially prone to fatiguing the palate. I can remember when I first started smoking Latakia blends, it got to a point where I wasn't tasting it much in blends that...

    Peterson University Flake review

It took me a couple of reads.... Initially, I'm going along, wondering what the issue is... I do notice the topping in University Flake and don't particularly care for the blend, but otherwise seems like a well-written, thoughtful review. Autocorrect may be the single worst thing mankind has...

***What Are You Smoking, October 2024?***

H&H White Knight in a Peterson Newgrange Spigot. I very much enjoy this blend.

***What Are You Smoking, October 2024?***

I don't normally like flavored cigars, but something about the combination of a Toscano and Anis sounds really intriguing to me.
