    Hello Old Friend, Balkan Sasieni

I just cracked open my first tin of it recently and love it already. Smoked incredibly well for being somewhat damp and has the oriental note that I love.

    Carter Hall (A Review)

Nice review. I'm tempted to pick up a pack to try!

    Porcelan Pipes.

Is the bowl itself glazed? I could see these as being extremely easy to clean if there's no porous surfaces on them, although maybe a bit hot to the touch?

Enjoy Tobacco and Nicotine in Other Forms?

This reminds me (on a somewhat unrelated note) that a lot of the "biohacking" types as well as brain research people supplement nicotine patches or gums for cognitive purposes. The gums I've tried have tasted pretty bad (compared to Wrigleys) but I've never felt what the patches are like.

Your Opinion on Kentucky Fire-Cured Tobacco?

If any of you are familiar with the smell of burning "black jack oak trees", would you say this resembles the typical scent of a DFK/KFC? Black jack oaks are very common in OK and as a result are often used to build camp fires. Having grown up around this smell, it is somewhat "nostalgic" but...

Enjoy Tobacco and Nicotine in Other Forms?

Loved Swedish Snus until I noticed a skin tag that briefly appeared on my inside lip one day. Stopped the snus, the skin tag went away, and then I switched back to cigars/pipe. I know the research for snus indicates that the risk is actually low (and probably lower than cigar/pipes) but...

    Possible Bowl Damage?

If the pipe smokes great overall, you'll forget those are there after enough time passes :) I've dropped my favorite pipe onto the concrete floor a few times and it has the dings and scratches from it, but as long as it puts out that cool dry smoke, I couldn't care less.

    Recommend Me Some Good Aromatics

Is my understanding correct that Virginias have that clean and sweet taste found in Cigarette tobacco? I have smoked VaPers before and the flavor breakdown between those seems like: Sweet = from Virginia Pepper/Spice/Plummy/raisiny = from Perique

Your Opinion on Kentucky Fire-Cured Tobacco?

I think you may have pinned down the exact note about DFK/KFC that I have trouble with. For what it's worth, I absolutely love Latakia so smoky tobaccos are fine with me, but there is a specific quality to DFK that I find somewhat harsh and it may be the hickory note.

    Swisher Sweets

Those little Villigers are handy indeed, but I'd recommend never cutting one open or you'll see how just cheap they are. LOL. I made the mistake of buying a box of the non-maduros once and couldn't have been happier once I finished all of them and had the burden lifted off my shoulders.

    Favorite Cigarillos

Maybe it's just my bad luck but this is an area where I've gotten a "better smoke" from cheaper brands like Al Capones or Backwoods. But whenever I buy the minis from premium lines (Cohiba, Rocky Patel, etc) I feel like I'm not getting the same quality leaf as a standard Toro sized cigar from...

***What Are You Smoking, Sept. 2020?

Just finished a bowl of Balkan Sasieni in my Stanwell brushed brown.

Your Opinion on Kentucky Fire-Cured Tobacco?

EDIT: Fixed Capitalization in Title ( See Rule 9 ) I have tried this both as part of a non-aromatic blend and also as a cigar made by Drew Estate. I tried it with an open mind and a fresh palette and.. sorry I just can't do it. It's just too smoky in a way that I can' t seem to tolerate. It...

Has Anyone Here Tried Backwoods Pipe Tobaccos?

I'm tempted to try the regular pipe tobacco if it resembles their cigars. In my younger days I actually would enjoy their "cheroot" style rough made cigars with the sweetened tip. Left a horrible aftertaste but it had a very rich and caramel like burn quality.

The Air In Your Home is Hazardous

Sounds like it has one of those PM2.5/VOC detectors that is more common in air purifiers now. I have a Coway purifier with a similar sensor and it cranks up once I start cooking in the kitchen.

High-End Pipes - Do They Improve the Smoking Experience?

One of my cheapest pipes has the best draw (MM Great Dane in wood), while one of my mid tier pipes (Big Ben Fantasia) is the most comfortable experience. So I'm gonna say.. no.. the cost does not always improve every aspect of smoking.

    Hearth and Home Magnum Opus

Does it take a while to appreciate this stuff? I am on my 2nd bowl and I can't seem to get much out of it flavor-wise. It burns REALLY well and smokes cool, and even has a nice scent, but I feel like it hasn't lived up to its name just yet. It was quite dry straight out of the tin, so it went...

    A Crappy Smoke?

The Falcon pipe from the UK is similar right? No filter on those but they have a little absorbent ring to retain the moisture and some have a stem that acts like a radiator.

MM Hardwood Great Dane - $14 well spent

I picked up one of these pipes recently: https://corncobpipe.com/great-dane-spool-maple-hardwood-pipe.html And wow! Talk about a great smoker! It's got a nice deep bowl that is easy to pack, and the draw is just PERFECT for me. The initial smoke did have some unrecognized flavors, but once the...
