    Turn of Taste

Funny how hankerings can change. I've been stuck on Mac B Scottish, Mcclelland Town Topic and 1Q for a few weeks now. Nothing else seemed to work. Suddenly, with the turn to cooler temps, I have had an exclusive hankering for Latakia mixtures. Now I rotate Sutliff Med English, H&H Marquee...

    Maple Bomb?

I don't know if they have more maple syrup, but they are fine, maple flavored smokes. I have Autumn Evening in my rotation and enjoy these others also. Mcclelland Town Topic - an absolute must if you enjoy maple. Very nice quality aromatic IMHO. Sutliff Maple Street. + 1 with the others on this.

    Last Third of the Bowl

Thanks for the tips! I sometimes like to let it sit a bit and dry out also.

    Modified Missouri Meerschaum Patriot

    Thanks and thanks!

    Modified Missouri Meerschaum Patriot

I changed to a shorter stem and used my Dremel to remove the bulging top section. Now it's a nice, lightweight nose warmer. I should have taken a before pic. Not a big deal, just what I feel is an improvement to gain a nice little utility clencher.

C&D Mixture Monster or We Three Kings

Thanks for the ideas mso. Can you recommend one or two of the burley blends you mentioned?

The Chuck Norris of Pipe-Tobaccos: What's Yours?

I've never had this effect from pipe tobacco. I did however decide to try a couple different cigars that left me very nauseated. I'm really glad the cigars didn't work out anyway. ...too darn expensive for me, and my wife hates them. She loves the pipes though.

C&D Mixture Monster or We Three Kings

I considered picking these up for a change and wondered if anyone has tried them and can offer an opinion. Are these pretty goopy? I generally prefer lighter aromatics. I like McB Scottish and BLB, Lanes RLP6, and 1Q. I really don't much like Molto Dolce and that sort. If these are...

    Cleaning a MM corncob

For the stem I take a long churchwarden cleaner and fold it in half. Works great. I use the paper towel in the bowl. Seems to do the trick.

Smokong - all the way down?

I almost always leave about a quarter of my bowl. Gets nasty at the bottom for me. That tobacco has filtered a lot of smoke and has captured a lot of the moisture. It gets sprinkled on my lawn off my patio as an offering. Quick afterthought... Sometimes I will dump the ash and scrape...

To filter, or not to filter?!

I don't always use a filter, but when I do, I use Savinelli balsa inserts. I use them in my 6mm Savs and in my cobs. Those little paper things are nasty IMHO.

Mac Baren Mixture - Scottish Blend

My favorite use to be Burley London Blend, and it didn't bite me at all. Scottish will bite a bit if I'm not careful on my relights, but overall it doesn't bite me during my puffing unless I go too fast. There was a Westminster blend I tried once that I just could not smoke at all, no matter...

What's Your Favorite Pipe Smoking Movie?

I posted way back on this, but I will add Hatfields & McCoys and a new documentary called Ghost Army.

Mac Baren Mixture - Scottish Blend

Interesting you mention that mso489. I've been thinking my next order will be C&D Burleys. ...any particular recommendations?

Mac Baren Mixture - Scottish Blend

I was surprised to see it was considered aromatic also. I will say I and my family enjoy the aroma very much, but I appreciate that it is not very sweet.

Mac Baren Mixture - Scottish Blend

I've been smoking a pipe for almost five years now, having started a little later in life at thirty four years old. I have a modest collection of twenty two different tobacco blends - a couple Lane aros, a few english blends, some burley forward blends, a couple nice C&D blends, a couple of...

What is your definition of Heavy Pipe Smoking

I smoke one to two bowls per day. Some days I smoke none. Occasional weeks I smoke none. For me, more than three bowls per day would be "heavy." More importantly, If I ever got to the point where I felt I was addicted and couldn't comfortably set it aside, that would be too heavy. I smoke...

First impressions of several Hearth & Home blends

I've tried Anniversary Kake, Classic Burley Kake and BlackHouse. I very much enjoy them all. Fine quality, forgiving on the bite and very reasonably priced. Good stuff.
